Chief Coordinator of ECTAD Caribbean, Jethro Green, shared his belief in the importance of establishing sustainable and profitable markets for small farmers. He also highlighted the usage of organic treatment developed here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Green extended appreciation to CARDIcaribbean and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transformation for their assistance during the testing phase of the organic treatment.

ECTAD Caribbean and CARDI Caribbean, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Transformation, Forestry & Fisheries - SVG, and supported financially by COLEAD, are working to identify a safer post-harvest treatment for dasheen as an alternative to the chemical Ridomil Gold. Data collection has been completed, and updates on the trial results will be forthcoming. Produce from this Post-Harvest Dasheen trial has been donated to the Ministry of Agriculture, Lewis Punnett House, His Majesty's Prison, and Hurricane Beryl victims.
ECTAD Chief Coordinator Mr. Jethro Greene emphasised the significance of ongoing research, strategic long-term planning, and a transition toward organic treatments to align with market standards and diminish chemical dependence. “We made mistakes with bananas, and we must not repeat them with other crops."
