Summertime upon us! It is challenging but rewarding to grow anything in our area: short growing season, relentless Spring winds, often hard clay soil, lack of rain!
Yet here is the Inn now, adorned as upon every year with all manners of flowers and other plants... Which hopefully will be in full bloom soon enough 🌼🌺🌻🌹.
Especially if we are blessed here and then with rain, and the natural nitrates, dissolved oxygen, and carbon dioxide its 100% soft water brings upon vegetation... And people!

Another event of interest for our Guests: important event in Gallup, with strong local Native communities' creative folks' participation.
AND, Gallup on the forefront of the movie making business again! Let's attend and make sure that this event remains a regularly scheduled one.
AND, Halona Chicken included as a feature, along with Food Trucks!

Make it all into a complete, extended weekend event: May 7 and 8 / 4th Annual Gallup Film & Media Expo PLUS May 9 and 10 / Zuni 11th Annual Mainstreet Festival at Zuni's brand new Fairgrounds facilities (see info below on this page)!

Here is our "SALAD LOVING GROUP"!
First trip to our Community and The Inn at Halona.
San Juan Basin Archeological Society, 18 of them. Great people AND they did finish our large bowl of salad (fresh, leafy greens, cherry tomatoes, artichoke quarters, a little extra seasoning) at supper last night (which was anchored by "Famous Halona Chicken", as they put it); this does not happen too often!

One of those mornings... Lots of Guests for breakfast and our kitchen at Halona Restaurant's gas line had sprung a leak!
Could not delay breakfast though: our valiant Ladies sprung up to the emergency and proceeded to fix breakfast "The Old Way" (i.e. pre-covid) at the Inn's Main Building' Kitchen. A taste of the past: it remains amazing that we were even able to prepare breakfasts in such a small space for many years.
As for repairing our main kitchen's gas line, Maintenance Man Tim also jumped to the occasion and got it all done promptly!
Whattateam!

And, we are getting into a nice period of the year: more Guests, ALL interesting folks, with stories to go. On attached photo: Lady on the left is celebrating her 92th birthday; she has become another hero of mine. Lady in the right is of French origin. Folks at further table are geologists: they really wanted to make it to the Inn despite having encountered serious car troubles en route.

Life's good at the Inn at Halona AND we all make sure it remains that way for our Guests as well, starting with heartfelt welcome from our Office upon arrival!
My philosophy is that "We are the FIRST people Guests encounter in the Community and most often the LAST people to bid them farewell when they leave".

Spring upon us? Feels that way while winter has not been cold or wet at all (some rain sorely needed now though!)
In any case, this morning's pool of Guests in our arguably beautiful & airy dining room for breakfast looks very diverse and most welcome in any case!
In the attached photo, Italian Guests at the far right table, busy with their breakfasts (and totally gushing about their stay in Zuni and the Inn at Halona!); group of youngsters & their instructors from a Montessori school in California in the middle area - interestingly, they all speak several languages and make it a point of picking one of them for each day's group interactions; dearest Yume at the top far left - she comes from Japan several times each year to pick up orders for her shop in Tokyo (folks, and especially craftspeople in Zuni, LOVE her!); delightful Liz at near far left, on a returning visit after MANY years - she was so HAPPY to be with us again that she lingered appreciatively alone at the table following breakfast (Note: she is the early Guest at the Inn at Halona who coined the BEST description for Room 4, i.e. "The Tree House"!)

Guests from Washington State are feasting upon their customary delicious breakfasts at the Inn at Halona... While their car (a fine Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV) has completed its own full charge. Our Level 2 charging station works just right (and free of charge) for visitors staying at the Inn. It is activated via a card available at Halona Plaza's office.
Trying to participate in helping EVs to remain a growing segment of the transportation industry, even though EV sales in the US have slowed down (especially following the end of the substantial Federal IRS "Green Car" incentive in September 2025).
