How Facial Shape & Jawline Relies on Correct Tongue Posture

Low tongue posture may have many impacts on your health.

The role in both widening the upper jaw and positioning the lower jaw in line with the nose are two ways that it may improve facial structure.

Other issues may include
1 speech disorders (certain sounds)
2 sleep apnea (tongue falls back into throat associated with throat snoring)
3 breathing problems (low tongue posture increases risk of mouthbreathing)
4 swallowing problems (a tongue thrust swallow may distort the shape of the jaw and affect posture
5 sinus inflammation (lack of nasal breathing can associate with an immune response in the nose)

If you suffer from any of the issues above, it may be prudent to start to work on tongue posture.

Here's a start:

1) keep your mouth closed and your teeth gently apart.
2) move your tongue to the roof of your mouth and lightly press upwards
3) you should feel a little pressure throughout your jaw
4) Position so as not block your airway as you breathe
5) Maintain this whenever you can.

The goal is this to become habit for you and the tongue becoming stronger.

Another consideration is your swallowing

During swallowing the tongue should press up to the palate but also a second movement to the side (into the back teeth).

So when you swallow you should first feel connection with the palate, and then a send wave of pressure up and a third wave outwards

Do you struggle with forward head and open mouth posture?

Tooth / Organ Relationship Chart

Wellness Wednesday: When was the last time your physician asked you about your oral health?⠀

It is scientific fact that everything in our bodies is connected. Tooth energy meridian charts like that which you see here have been in existence for centuries. Why, then, do doctors not ask you about your oral health? We have seen more “miraculous” recoveries from systemic illness by resolving chronic intraoral infection and/or energetic imbalance, you would not even believe it! That being said, I will share some health symptoms we have seen completely resolve through working with patients at our clinic: chronic gastritis, asthma, eczema, rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Lyme disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, anxiety, brain fog, halitosis, tinnitus, vertigo, and many others. ⠀

If you are experiencing symptoms to which you and your health team are not finding answers, the root cause of your illness may very well be literally in your head! If optimal health is your goal, I encourage you to work with a biological dentist who is well versed in integrative and naturopathic approaches to oral health care. At Blodgett Dental Care, we welcome all health seekers from around the world to travel to the beautiful city of Portland, OR for some of the best integrative oral health care that exists! (And don’t believe what you seen on the news about “unrest” in Portland. Life here is 99.99% as “Portland” as ever!)⠀

If you are interested in pursuing care at our practice, please contact us at [email protected] and ask for information about Travel Tourism. We are here to guide you back to health!⠀
