School's (left) uses a straight-arm to hold off Buckeye Union High School defender Salvador Castro during the second quarter of Friday night's 4A West Valley Region game at Ricky Gwynn Stadium. To say that Hancock played a role in the ' 49-28 win would be an understatement as the senior finished the night with 159 receiving yards and a touchdown; had an eight-yard touchdown run; and registered seven tackles on the defensive side of the ball.

So, about six seasons ago, Yuma Catholic High School President and Head Football Coach Rhett Stallworth said his glasses had a tendency to slide down his nose while on the sidelines during games, which made it hard to read his play sheet, so he adapted and wrapped some white athletic tape across the bridge. Problem solved. He’s still wrapping tape on his glasses, but revealed that when he first did it, the glasses were thicker, black, horn-rimmed spectacles, and someone joked that he looked like Hall of Fame rocker Buddy Holly. Coincidentally, Stallworth's taped glasses also look like those worn by nerds in several movies. Either way, Stallworth could be seen sporting his specially-wrapped glasses during Friday night’s home game at Ricky Gwynn Stadium, the same night the Yuma Catholic student body decided to cheer on their Shamrocks while decked out in their own “nerd” glasses, poking good natured fun at their school president and head coach.

OK, last photo of 's kickoff return for a touchdown Friday night. The reason I'm posting this one is because of young fan's reaction in the background as Hunter reaches the end zone. Love it!

OK, I've had the privilege to photograph a number of football games, both for the local newspaper and as a contract photographer, and in the last three seasons, I've found it so, um, amusing, that when visiting teams win the coin flip, they choose to kick off. First amusing thing is, why in the world would anyone want to let the Shamrocks' offense have the fall first? Second amusing thing is, when these teams choose to kick off, they invariably kick it to this dude, senior , who more often than not, takes it to the house! Here Hunter takes another kickoff, this one from visiting Salinas, Calif.-Palma High School, 85 yards to pay dirt during the second quarter of Friday night's Farmers Showdown Lettuce Bowl Game at Ricky Gwynn Stadium. No, it wasn't the opening kickoff, but nonetheless it was the same outcome (another photo posted earlier, below, is also of Hunter's TD return).

This is a cool photo because it shows big brother (33) leading the way for little brother during 's home game last Friday against Tucson-Catalina Foothills. For the record, Hayden is a senior and Benton is a sophomore. Go Rocks!
