Putting the turkeys to work! I’ve got several piles of firewood that are covered in weeds. Let’s see what 230 turkeys can do to clear it for me!

Waste not, want not! We’ve become a disposable society that has lost its sense of value, I’m mainly referring to material value In case…

It takes a lot of work to raise an animal, and at the end of the day, every bit of the animal has value and purpose. It’s just a question of how far you want to take it in adding value to a raw material.

Enter LARD!!! Perhaps one of the most versatile products from raising pigs. It is a food and energy source, can be burned as a fuel for fires, or even a diesel engine, and can also be made into a fully natural soap!

Soap is what we’re after in this video. It dawned on me about a year ago that we can make laundry detergent with our lard, at a significant price savings to chemical and synthetic soaps… what a resource!

We’ve been busy as usual this week, the focus has been fencing. We’re building fence to keep sows and piglets in when it’s time for farrowing.

Happy that I got this feeder repaired and put to use. Such a time saver. It doesn’t sound like much, but had feeding hogs daily takes valuable time away from other things.

Very thankful for this feeder! I think the pigs are too!

Moving some turkeys! These guys are a little smaller than our other turkeys. I figured we could use some more for thanksgiving birds!
