With the support of PA Humanities and The Grotto, we're thrilled to announce: philosophical discussions on the last Tuesday of every month, beginning in October!
Join Ren, Josh, and Tiffani for “What’s the Point of Games?: a Philosophical Discussion” at The Grotto on Tuesday, October 27 from 7 to 9 pm.
We'll discuss the following questions and more:
Do games have a value or purpose beyond “having fun” or passing the time?
Does playing games achieve something that other activities don’t, or do something better than other activities can?
Are games a form of art? What distinguishes games from other forms of art?
Guidelines for discussion and a brief advance reading from Thi Nguyen’s Games: Agency as Art will be emailed to participants upon registration. The experiential component of the event will be a game of Spyfall (a game discussed in the text) to inform the conversation.
Please reserve your spot in advance here: https://buytickets.at/tigerrabbitstudio/2435717
We can't wait to see some new faces and continue our philosophical conversations and experiences in a new venue.
PS: it's been a wild week with the studio move still in progress and Ren's trip to Pittsburgh! The video is a screen test recorded with PaX fellows at The Andy Warhol Museum during an incredible first Cultural Exchange Weekend.

Can you guess where we're scheming about the next chapter of philosophical discussions over at The Grotto? Ren had a great day out at The .918 Club's Lancaster Printers Fair while Josh attended the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators Illustrator Day at the Lancaster Public Library.
Ren is thrilled to have been selected for an 18-month PA Cultural Exchange Fellowship from PA Humanities to continue public philosophy events in York and learn from 50 other cultural practitioners from across the state. They're headed to Pittsburgh soon for the very first Cultural Exchange Weekend and can't wait to explore the city and meet the other fellows.

Thanks for a lovely last First Friday at Paper Tiger Studio and first Art Night at the Grotto! It's bittersweet leaving Royal Square and packing up our storefront space, but we're excited to focus on making art and bringing more public philosophy to York. More detailed updates coming soon.
While Josh heads off to a conference (any fellow SCBWI members going to Illustrator Day?), visit Ren at Lancaster Printers Fair on Saturday 9/19, 11am–4pm at the Willow Street Fire Company's Al Starr Community Building.
You can also check out Josh's new watercolor painting on display in HIVE's "Ordinary Objects" show on Saturday 9/19 & Sunday 9/20, 12–4pm.

Last chance to take home work made at our group art nights and inspired by our local creative community!
We'll be open 6 to 9 PM on First Friday 9/4 for the final day of Art Night group show along with a sale of studio supplies, furniture, plants, and other odds and ends.
It's time for Paper Tiger Studio to begin packing up for the next chapter as we move on from a storefront and gallery space to focus on our studio practice.

I'm revisiting some of the places in the Yorktowne Hotel that inspired the artwork in Room With a Boo. Here's the hotel lobby and bar (look at that tiled floor!), the revolving door at the entrance, and the carpeted staircase.
