On Puppy Mill Awareness Day, remember that behind too many puppies sold in pet stores are dogs bred over and over for profit. Pennsylvania’s Victoria’s Law, HB 1816, would help shut down the puppy mill pipeline by ending the sale of commercially bred dogs, cats and rabbits in pet stores. Let’s keep building support. Tell your legislators to support Victoria’s Law. A puppy should never be the product of cruelty.

A live pigeon shoot was held over Labor Day weekend. Humane World for Animals released new footage documenting captive pigeons being used as live targets for cash and prizes. These shoots are not hunting or fair chase. They are organized cruel contests in which live animals are launched into the air to be shot. For decades, Pennsylvania lawmakers have had the opportunity to end this practice. At this point, delay is a decision. The legislature should act and end live pigeon shoots once and for all.
