This past weekend, I had the privilege and honor of presenting a House citation to Dr. Todd Davies, who just retired after a decade serving at the superintendent at West York School District.

Dr. Davies gave over 25 years of service to our public schools and I had the pleasure of working directly with him myself when I served as a school board member for West York. Thank you for your service Dr. Davies and best of luck in your retirement!

I am proud to announce that Paradise Township in the 196th District was awarded a major grant from the Pennsylvania Local Share Account (LSA) program.

LSA grants support projects in the public interest and projects that improve the quality of life of citizens in the community. Eligible projects must be owned and maintained by an eligible applicant or a nonprofit organization. Eligible applicants include counties, municipalities, municipal authorities, land banks, councils of government, redevelopment authorities and economic development agencies.

Paradise Township will receive $750,000 to construct a new building to house the recently merged Paradise Township Fire Department (York County Station 110, and Northeast Adams Fire and EMS).

The project will include the construction of a new 60-by-80-foot building, driveway, and parking lot on a piece of township-owned land adjacent to the current municipal complex. The project will provide the necessary parking for the emergency vehicles and storage of equipment for the two merged departments.

This grant funding will greatly help the merged Paradise Township Fire Department. The money will help ensure the construction of the necessary new building to put the fire and EMS operations under one roof and improve safety response times across Paradise Township.

25 years on, we will never forget the events of 9/11/2001.

Yesterday, the Pennsylvania State House held a special session at Congress Hall in Philadelphia as part of the America250 celebration. Joining me was Spring Grove student Eli Chronister, who won a contest of area students to attend and participate in the festivities throughout the day.

I want to encourage eligible families who have not yet received their 2026 SUN Bucks benefit to apply online or by paper application by August 31. The federal Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer program, also known as SUN Bucks or Summer EBT, helps eligible families afford groceries during the summer months when their children don’t have access to free and reduced-price meals at school. Yesterday, I toured the Pappus House, an end of life care facility in Jackson Township. I was extremely impressed with their facility and the lengths they go to caring for their patients.

Amy gave a wonderful tour and explained all of the work she and her team do to support those who stay at Pappus House and their families. This includes homemade meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, personalized care and a personal room and bathroom for each resident.

It was very informative and I thank the workers and volunteers of Pappus House for the incredible work they are all doing for their residents and families.

This past weekend, I meet with Kevin Schreiber and David Gonzalez of the York Area Economic Alliance to discuss how we can work together to continue to make York County a great place to work and live.

My daughter and I had a great time last night attending all the National Night Out’s across the 196th District. From Northern York to Spring Grove, our community turned out to show our gratitude to our first responders.
