Obituary for Clyde Philip Vogt at Clausen Funeral Home 07/23/2025

Gale’s dad, Clyde, passed away on Saturday. He absolutely loved building race cars and engines. The sound of race engines always put a smile on his face.

Have to share this blanket we had made for Gale from shirts throughout his racing career. I’m sure some of you own many of these!

We want to wish a Happy Birthday to our Crew Chief, Michael Vogt. Michael was a key part of the success that our race team experienced over the last 15 years or so. A fun fact is that even though Gale and Michael are distant cousins, racing is what really brought them together. When the Wagner Speedway opened back up many years ago, Gale started racing some there. That is where they actually met and got to know each other. Michael came on board at just the right time. His talents helped elevate Gale Vogt Racing to the next level. There were many nights where his effort and attention to detail deserved even better finishes than our results reflected. It is safe to say Gale may have retired many years ago if it were not for Michael coming on board, which allowed us to grow and compete in the traveling Tri-State series. We will miss the time spent making race cars go faster with him. But we look forward to other adventures whether related to racing or not as he and Gale have many common interests.

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes yesterday. I am truly humbled. Somehow every year it seems that our marketing manager, Becky, has her birthday fall on the day after our drivers birthday. We want to wish her a very Happy Birthday as well. She was so good at being behind the scenes at the racetrack that we don’t have many pictures of her at the races.

Wish our favorite driver a happy birthday today! He’s not old, he’s a classic! 🥳🎉🎂

As you saw in our last post, we attended the Tri-State awards banquet last weekend where we collected our 5th place trophy and awards. We are very proud of this accomplishment as the Tri-State series has grown and continues to get more and more competitive. 92 different drivers competed in the series at various events last season. 53 cars checked into the Huset’s special alone, which is further evidence of how much growth we have experienced. It was at that event where we had one of our season highlights as we qualified 6th fastest out of all 53 cars and made the main event. We managed to qualify for the feature race in every event we participated in last season. Another highlight was our strong 3rd place finish at our home track in Wagner.

We would like to thank all the sponsors that supported us this season. Precision Addiction came on board and we were proud to display their logo on the front of our car. LaCroix Construction Excavating has supported us for many years, which we appreciate. We also appreciate the continued support from Zeeb Farms, Vogt's Repair and The 812 Bar.

We also wish to extend our gratitude to YOU fans who followed and supported us through our adventures. While many of you were not able to attend races in person, your support by tracking our results and following us online made all the long drives and hours spent preparing the car well worth it.

After much deliberation, Gale has decided to retire at this time. It seems we have hit a plateau at around 5th in the Tri-State Series, and it would take a lot more dedication and resources to achieve the next level where we can challenge for wins and championships. This is a challenge we feel our team has the talents to take on, but other commitments are making this more and more unrealistic. We are extremely proud of the little part we have done to support and help grow the Tri-State Series and encourage everyone to attend their events as it has become some of the best late model racing around.

We also want to thank our crew members for all their help and dedication. We cannot thank them enough for their sacrifices and will follow up with more detailed thank you posts shortly.
