Rainy day so we will mix it up with a little information about a staple of the City of Worcester...The Triple Decker.

Did you know that the first Worcester triple decker was built in 1858. Triple deckers were a byproduct of the City's industrial surge. Industrial boom led to rapid population growth and triple deckers were affordable and made great use of available space.

Now get this, in the early 1900's the cost to build a Triple Decker was approximately $3000 which is about $95,000 in 2024 dollars.

Main cost of a triple decker in 1914 were;

Carpentry $900
Plumbing $500
Int/Ext Paint $300

Triple deckers are uniquely Worcester and had a few styles, Hipped, Gable with some of the City's triple deckers listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Average cost of a triple decker is approximately $230,000 in 2024.
