Dear Brethren,

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our Brother, Wor. Tom DeFeudis, Thrice Past Master of Level Lodge and recipient of the Joseph Warren Medal, recently passed away.

Tom was an incredibly generous Brother, a mentor to many, and a true friend to Brethren throughout Massachusetts. His generous heart, ever-present smile, and deep care for his community were truly unmatched. He gave so much of himself to others, and his loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Tom will be sorely missed.

Please keep his family, friends, and Brothers in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

The wake will be held on Monday, September 21, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 PM, and I hope that as many Brethren from the District as possible will be able to attend and support Tom’s family and Brothers.

The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Angels Parish, 1222 Main Street, Worcester.

Tom’s obituary may be viewed here:

On December 3, 1999, six firefighters lost their lives in the Worcester Cold Storage Warehouse fire — one of the deadliest days in American fire service history. Lieutenant John Sullivan was there that night. Two of the men who died were his own crew.

In this candid interview, Brother and retiring Fire Chief John Sullivan, 33°, opens up about the fire that changed his life, the years of grief and healing that followed, and how Freemasonry gave him back a brotherhood he thought he'd lost.

On this day in 1969, the crew of Apollo 11 carried more than scientific instruments to the Moon.

Among the personal items taken on the historic mission was a Masonic flag, later returned to Earth and preserved as a unique piece of Masonic history.

Every element of a Masonic ring means something. The double-headed eagle. The triangle. The Hebrew letter yod. Each ring carries centuries of meaning.
