This deck construction took place in a historic area of Boston, where the building permit process took nearly three years and required approval from the Historic Commission. Limited access, strict requirements, and permit bureaucracy were challenges, but they did not stop us from getting the job done.

At first, this project was expected to be a simple siding repair. But after a closer inspection, the client decided to move forward with a full replacement.

Why? The existing structure was already 35 years old. Even with a repair, there was a high chance that new problems, such as swelling and surface irregularities, would start to appear over time.

There was also another important factor: color match. A small repair would not blend perfectly with the existing siding, which could affect the final look of the property.
Sometimes, repair is enough. Other times, replacement is the safer, cleaner, and smarter long-term solution.
