Greendog Rescue Project

For those who do not yet know, Greendog is closed. The founder, Colleen Combs, passed away in March of this year.

The loss of Colleen has hit her friends and loved ones very hard. That’s a given. The rescue community is also greatly impacted.

Over the years, Greendog had saved and adopted out over 3,500 dogs. Colleen rarely said no when asked to take in the dogs. All breeds. Behavior problems were rehabilitated. ‘Unadoptable’ dogs became loved family pets.

It was a very sad day when Colleen passed, and another very sad day when Greendog closed.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make Greendog what it was. Thank you, Douglas Keene, for co-founding this amazing organization and helping to get it started.

Rest In Peace, Colleen, and know we all love you and miss you.

"Midnight" needs some snacks. This little beauty arrived late last night in need of some love and care. Her visit to our friends at Township Animal Hospital today, confirmed she has some extra cargo... expecting delivery in a couple of weeks. Between now and then, she could use some extra calories to help her prepare for her puppies. If you would like to help her out, we are currently accepting Blue Buffalo Puppy food for her. Do you remember Rudolph helping all those toys on the "Island of Misfit Toys"? Well perhaps we can all help share the stories of our "Misfit" dogs and see if there forever families can be found. We know they are out there somewhere, we just need to reach far and wide to find them. We will spotlight one of these dogs each day during the holidays, and encourage everyone to share their stories.

KATIE: This senior girl is looking for a home that doesn't care how vocal she is. She is like that neighbor that you try to avoid because she always has something to talk about. Katie will bond with you, love you, sit on your lap, and be completely loyal.... but she is older, chatty, demanding of your attention, and generally doesn't quiet down unless you are holding her, or at least have her nearby. She is good with other dogs, doesn't seemed bothered by people, and enjoys her walks (and treats). Perhaps you know someone who is a homebody that is looking for a low energy girl to chat with.
