Greetings, traumatized rescues, shelters, and individuals laying in the Miranda’s Rescue dumpster fire. There is no case more painful, or perverted, than this one.

Anatomy of a Scam:

Con man/Psychopath + Zero Enforcement of California Animal Care and Cruelty Laws + Large Confidence Scheme + Government Contracts with Zero Government Oversight= Rolling in the Benjamin’s $$$$$$$$$

Miranda’s had decades of official, local complaints, legal records & compliance failures, whistleblowers all over the place, I’ve learned. Miranda’s, also out of permit compliance for 23 years, for starters.

Political and legal channels were followed, over & over-police reports filed by citizens, to no avail. Nobody had any idea Miranda had hundreds of dogs coming and going. But, his neighbors, Jennifer and Jenna, knew. They knew so much, they set up a camera, and watched Shannon dig his own grave.

I checked this morning, and they’re up to 773 dogs on the Miranda’s Missing page.

My cynical mind fears the authorities view us as hysterical Pitbull hugging, cat kissing, bird watchers with mental problems.

It’s the worst at night. At 3 am, my eyes slap open and I’m thinking about the transporters, the volunteers, the army of kind humans working hard, doing their best for a homeless dog they love…wondering now if their Miranda’s dog- made it out alive. This busts me into smithereens for them.

I pray the cavalry is coming. My heart screams for justice, for every single dog in those fields. For the VICTIMS OF THIS FELONY LEVEL SCAM, CRIME SPREE, going on for 28 years, it appears.

That’s a long time —that’s Clinton-Lewinsky ago, to present.

Rescue: Working together to save helpless animals in a volatile, expensive, unforgiving landscape, of mostly hellish options. That’s our life. Don’t let anybody make you feel like this is your fault.

Bad shelters, bad rescues- all gotta go. Animal cruelty is intolerable and just because you have “Humane” in your name, doesn’t mean you are. Is it “no kill’s” fault? How is shooting dogs and sending fake adoption pics a no kill effort? It’s a scam, not a rescue.

Animal people are targeted due to generous hearts, can-do spirits, a belief in life, and success for the animals we care about, so deeply. This is the hook, predators pounce and devour, right here. To cry out for jail time, penalties, and accountability is our only shot at punishing the primary fiends responsible for the Miranda Rescue tragedy. Furious, crushed souls, want answers.

I will shut up about this, approximately, never. I invite you to do the same.

This is not vengeance, this is justice.

Please Read. This is how Animal Abuse is handled in Sonoma and Humboldt Counties!

No police for you! (NPFU hereafter) If you discover an animal cruelty factory warehouse on your way to work today, just keep driving there is no point in reporting it. Gas is expensive. Life is short. Head desking, gives you brain damage. Just drive.

“But there are 114 NBAS dogs inside, starving and standing in three inches of p**p! Hello, 911- I need to report an emergency…the top animal control officer, Mark Scott, just left a building full of dogs half dead…”

“We’ll send the police.”

After two hours, the place is certified by officers as kinda messy/‘lil bit stinky but otherwise TOTALLY FINE! Love, Lake County Sheriff, Clearlake Police, Petaluma PD, Cloverdale PD, Sebastopol, Windsor, CA Atty General’s office and the FBI and all DA’s around the globe.

In Humboldt County, if you’re in your house and see Shannon Miranda drive down your street with a semi truck of dog carcasses sporting a sombrero made out of $100 bills—-you will get NPFU. For 30 years straight.

“HELP! I just witnessed felony animal abuse at Miranda’s Rescue!”

“Please hold, eeerm, we think you may be crazy, and possibly menstruating, so we’ll come out and look around but chances are, Shannon is awesome.”

Is it our rescue outfits? Maybe I smell bad. Parvo triage will do that to a person. Our entire community, from Fortuna to Palm Springs crisscrossing California- NPFU. Oh the cops show up- make a report, takes years, goes nowhere, chief says “We love animals” and pats you on the head. Case dismissed! Thanks for playing along.

The police exist to fight REAL crime. Not deal with stupid animals or annoying fraud schemes impacting whole counties! Arresting city/county good ol’ boys for torturing vulnerable shelter pets takes time!

Today, Mark Scott is a free man. 114 dog felonies later, the City of Petaluma and her police- do not care, it’s not their problem and as long as you have a government contract, you are free to felony.

Today, Shannon Miranda is free. A video exists of him dumping hay and dogs. Dogs, that were at Miranda’s for 11 days. The stinging, outrageous betrayal: the crime- is on film. Shannon’s got no worries, it appears.

Animal cruelty is a predictive crime. I’ve never worked a serious dog bite case that stood alone. There was always violence, abuse, drugs, present elsewhere in the family. NBAS and Miranda’s victimized entire regions of California- and the animals within it. Crime everywhere, arrests nowhere.

Vomitorious injustice like this- hard to take. Law enforcement abyss, extra hard. Animals killed and abused by psychopath scammers, impossible to stand. Our rescues and shelters robbed of resources, our rescue dogs exploited and murdered, donations laundered and squandered- intolerable. And yet, NPFU.

Get your brain right: Arguing that investigations take time, is figuring 8 years on NBAS and 28 years on Miranda’s, is insufficient.

I love the police, I love law enforcement, I honor them, I appreciate them, their dogs are dreamy. I just wish they’d feel the same way about us, our dogs are dreamy too. Like the homeless wandering creatures we save, we are alone in this world. The sin of it all~breathtaking.

Consolation prize: with revenue streams dried up, both scams are in ruins, gravy train crapped out, and the Tiger Kings have bad credit.

The non-profit scam nobody wants to talk about!!

For years, people have treated animal rescue and nonprofit corruption like some impossible conspiracy theory. It isn’t. It’s a pattern. And it happens over and over because good-hearted people are easy to manipulate when animals are involved.

The formula is simple:

Find a cause nobody wants to question.
Wrap yourself in “rescue” language.
Exploit volunteers and donors.
Hide behind emotional messaging.
Collect public money.
Avoid oversight.
Intimidate critics.

And if you’re really effective at the grift? You secure government contracts funded by taxpayers.

That is exactly why the allegations surrounding organizations like NBAS and Mirandas Rescue matter so much. These are not isolated stories. They are examples of a much larger problem inside portions of the animal rescue and shelter industry where image, politics, and fundraising can become more important than accountability, transparency, or even animal welfare itself.

The saddest part is that the people donating, volunteering, and advocating are usually wonderful human beings acting in good faith. The con artists at the top weaponize that compassion for money, influence, and protection.

And when the truth finally starts coming out? The system protects itself.

Why? Because investigating too deeply creates “egg on the face” for the officials, managers, and oversight bodies that approved the contracts, ignored complaints, failed to audit records, and publicly defended these organizations for years. Real investigations would expose not only the alleged misconduct of the nonprofits, but also the incompetence — or worse — of the people responsible for overseeing them.

That is why accountability matters.

Not “optics.”
Not political damage control.
Not carefully managed narratives.

Actual accountability.

Because when government-funded animal organizations are allowed to operate without meaningful oversight, animals suffer, taxpayers get defrauded, donors get manipulated, and the public loses trust in legitimate rescue work done by honest people.

The good rescuers and ethical nonprofits should be the loudest voices demanding transparency. Because every unchecked grifter damages the credibility of everyone else trying to do the right thing.

As I sit here and watch thousands of people desperately searching for the dogs that were transferred to Miranda’s HORROR rescue. As so many I feel sick to my stomach. I also receive messages.
So with that being said I know people didn’t know what Shannon was doing on that property. But I have a deep suspicion Mark Scott knew exactly what he was doing. He transferred dogs like most but NORTH BAY ANIMAL SERVICES didn’t pay in cash. He BOUNCED checks. So what do you think happened after the check didn’t clear?!
To Mark Scott and Shannon Miranda:
I hope the two of you are BURIED under the jail then visit the depths of HELL. That’s where the two of you belong.
