I knew the day would come
my first Mother’s Day without you. But, how can I be anything but thankful God gave me so many years with you. Forever my encourager and the one who was always so proud of me. The best moms make each of their children feel like they were always her favorite. But
I truly think I was, (right Jim, John, Joel and Jeana?!?) Years ago I asked you, “what will I ever do without you?” You told me something and I wrote it down but I haven’t looked for that piece of paper yet. I am so grateful for the promise of heaven and that I will see you again, Mom. Thank you for how you faithfully loved Dad and all of us. You both lived your lives so well and I’m so thankful to have had a front row seat to how you both did that to the end. Happy 1st Heavenly Mother’s Day, Mom. I will love you forever. ❀

🌾 Happy May Day!

Did you know today, May 1st, is May Day? Do people still celebrate May Day?!?

I sure hope so because I have such fond memories as a little girl making a May Basket at school and “secretly” going across the street and putting it on the front door handle at “Mrs. Maybeth’s” house, ringing her doorbell and proudly running back home!! (And
YES!! Her name really WAS Mrs. Maybeth!!)

There’s something so charming about the tradition of leaving flowers on a doorstep, ringing the bell, and offering a small surprise of kindness.

I’ve always loved the reminder that hospitality doesn’t have to be elaborate to be meaningful.

Sometimes it looks like:
💐 flowers from the yard
☕ coffee with a friend
đŸšȘnoticing a neighbor
🍋 lemonade on the porch
📞 checking in on someone

Small gestures often leave the biggest impression.

What’s one small kindness you could offer someone today?

Happy 1st Birthday to little Brooks. đŸ©”đŸŽ‚He’s always smiling and just the happiest little guy!! :) Loved the theme his mommy and daddy chose
”It’s My First Rodeo.” How perfect was that?!? May God bless and keep you all the days of your life. We love being your Gigi and Papa, Brooks.

Our Christmas present to each other this year was a gift to go out of town for a few relaxing days. “No plans” were our plans.
Years ago, I remember my mom saying, as far as gifts were concerned
”if she couldn’t wear it, eat it, or do it
she didn’t want it!” I now get it!! :) Sounds like the perfect gift to me.

Such a FUN and perfect way to spend New Year’s Eve at Orlando’s Leu Garden’s “Dazzling Lights!!” The garden’s were absolutely beautiful and the displays stunning! I loved the music and it was so wonderful to hear the children’s voices. At the end they even had “real snow”
well, sorta! :) It came out of machine but with our cool Florida weather, you could at least pretend it was the real thing! It was the perfect, laid back New Year’s Eve.

Such fun last night with our Orlando “kids.” We enjoyed a 3 1/2 hour dinner with lots of laughter!! A beautiful restaurant to celebrate as Christmas lingers and the New Year awaits. It was our first time to ever order one of those fancy seafood towers
oh, my! It’s a rare treat to get to be with our grandchildren’s parents and worth the splurge. (Sure missing our Atlanta crew!!)

Memories of Christmas
bittersweet with it being the first one without my dad. The first everything
But, my overriding emotion is thankfulness for such a long and faithful life. First time to use the nativity that mom and dad put up for 70 years
written on the box is the story how they bought it the year of their new baby, Jennifer. Loved being with two of our three families and precious grandchildren. Enjoyed my first year of not hosting Christmas dinner
the next generation starts a new tradition. :) We are BLESSED. “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace good will toward men!” Luke 2:14

This morning I walked out front and couldn’t help but notice the dew on our beautiful ❀poinsettias. For a minute, I could pretend it was snow
but not here in Florida. It glistened and I admired the beauty of the simple Christmas flower. It’s the one I love in December but am ready to move on to something new in January. I was curious about the story and symbolism of the pretty red flower and enjoyed a quick Google and chance to learn something new!! You might like it, too~
