Chris’ love of Disney started when he was a child growing up in Indiana. Chris’ cousin, Bonnie, was one of Walt Disney’s original Mouseketeers! Chris has a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Wright State University and an MBA in Finance from The Ohio State University. Moving to Orlando in 2004 to be closer to Walt Disney World, he owned a successful real estate company, repeatedly recognized by Orlando Magazine as one of Orlando’s top 100 Realtors and even earning recognition by the Wall Street Journal and RealTrends as one of the top 1000 Realtors nationwide. Chris chose to join Disney Vacation Club as a Sales Guide in 2018. Having stayed at nearly every DVC resort and going on numerous Disney cruises, Chris decided he wanted to combine his love of real estate and DVC. What is a Disney Vacation Club Use Year?
Every Member has a Disney Vacation Club Use Year. There are some differences between buying direct from Disney and buying DVC resale but Use Years work the same for both. The Disney Vacation Club website defines Use Year as:

‘Your Use Year is determined at the time you purchase your Ownership Interest in a Disney Vacation Club Resort and marks the time each year when you receive a new allotment of Vacation Points. It affects when you can bank and borrow Vacation Points, and sets the deadline for certain vacation decisions.’

There are often a lot of questions surrounding reselling your Disney Vacation Club contract and one of the questions we get asked most frequently is: How does DVC Resale work?

DVC resale works by allowing current Disney Vacation Club owners to sell their dvc points on the secondary market—usually through a licensed DVC resale broker. As a buyer, you can browse available listings, choose a contract that fits your needs (resort, Use Year, number of points), and submit an offer.

Once your offer is accepted, the process includes:
✨ Contract and paperwork preparation
✨ Disney’s Right of First Refusal (ROFR) review
✨ Closing with a licensed title company
✨ Transfer of ownership into your name

The entire DVC resale process typically takes 8–12 weeks and can save you thousands compared to buying direct from Disney. Plus, you still get access to magical vacations year after year.
