BIG PATTERN CHANGE: A sea breeze collision and a disturbance upstairs in the atmosphere make for numerous showers and storms on Thursday. This collision will happen farther east, with storms favoring the Metro and the East Coast Beaches thanks to a SW wind that develops. Torrential rain could lead to minor flooding and we could also see gusty wind. It is a STORM TEAM ALERT DAY. Drive carefully if you're out and about.

TROPICS UPDATE: Maybe you've seen some things circulating online about a tropical system forming late this month into early June. We're just about a week away from the official start of and there is some longer range date that at least indicates a chance of an area of low pressure organizing. The ensemble blend which is shown below gives the best handle on something this far out and it's pinpointing around a 10-20% chance of a depression forming over the next 10 days or so. A dip in the jetsream moves our way and as a front stalls, an area of low pressure could. It could then develop further as it moves over the warmer Caribbean and Western Atlantic. It's something we'll be monitoring but nothing to worry about at this current time.
