Did you know that May is Turtle Month? 🐢
Turtles are so important that they get an entire month of recognition! Each of these freshwater turtles is native to North America. It is very important to protect these turtles and their natural habitats as they are an essential part of our ecosystem.
Here at Cosley Zoo, we care for three Blanding’s turtles, four box turtles, and one painted turtle. One of our Blanding’s turtles is xanthic. This is a rare genetic condition that causes her skin pigmentation to appear bright yellow! 💛
Enjoy these close-up face pics of some of the turtles in our care! Which turtle face pic is your favorite?

Our herd has grown! Cosley Zoo is thrilled to announce the arrival of three mini-Nubian goats. Although smaller, these goats come with big personalities!
Marvel, the brown one, is sweet and loves scratches. Flurry, the black goat, is a tough gal and can occasionally be seen sparring with the bigger goats. Both are 3 years old. Bunny, the little one with a white face, is just 5 months old. She's got a big voice and she's not afraid to use it!
Mini Nubians are mid-sized goats which were developed by breeding a standard Nubian with a Nigerian Dwarf. These girls are still learning their place in the herd and getting used to all the new sites and smells of their new home, but we are so happy they are here!
Thanks to 'n' P**p Farm for their excellent recommendations and helping us bring these girls home. Come visit them soon!

🐝What's the buzz? It's World Bee day!🐝
Bees are small, but their impact is HUGE! Bees are found on every continent except Antarctica and are viral vital to all life on Earth. From food systems to ecosystems, these winged wonders are perfect pollinators. If you enjoyed a good cup of coffee or some tasty chocolate today, thank the bees!
Bees have been in decline, but now it's time to be together to help our bee buddies. One way you can help bees is consider planting some native flowers in your garden. These plants are bright and colorful and support local bees. On your next visit to Cosley Zoo, check out our newest pollinator plot to see these plants grow!

🚲There's still time to Bike to Cosley! 🚲
Not only does bicycling improve physical and mental health, it’s also good for the planet – when you ride your bike instead of drive, you help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.
Throughout May, if you ride your bike to the zoo, we want to know about it! Take a photo with your bike in front of the zoo entrance and post your photo to Facebook or Instagram with the zoo tagged (use ). On May 31st, we’ll choose one participant's photo to feature, and they’ll win two free duck or chicken feeding passes!
Enjoying the outdoors, getting some exercise, helping Mother Nature, and potentially getting a free duck or chicken feeding opportunity? Participating in National Bike Month is a win-win!
