Beautiful tiered wedding cake featuring our Purple Fondant💜

Just look at that marble technique 🤤

More and more brides are opting for smaller intimate weddings due to Covid, they don't want to put their lives on hold and why should they? And what about cake design? Don’t assume small means small! Did you know that a single tier 8” cake serves the same number as a two tier 5” & 7”? 😉👍

We get asked all the time about the stands/risers on this cake. They are from .options in the UK and we highly recommend them!

I am so happy to share that we have the honor of having one of our cakes on the cover of the 30th Anniversary edition of which is out tomorrow. If you haven’t already subscribed you should! As always it’s full of amazing tutorials including one on how to recreate the look of our beautiful cover girl!

Another one of last year’s cakes that never got posted! A&N had to postpone their full size wedding and just had a small COVID wedding in 3021. Then last year in their anniversary they got to renew their vows in front of all their family and friends and gave the wedding they had originally planned 💕

I love black and white! (you’d never guess by looking at my wardrobe 😉🥴) and this cake is no exception! I love the contrast of the black lace and trellis against the crisp white fondant!

When the cake is flawless, keeping it plain and simply adding some fresh flowers can be just as stunning and pretty as an elaborately decorated cake.

Throwback to one of our favorites from last year.

Being such a small operation, sometimes it’s hard to juggle everything! One ball that frequently gets dropped is posting to social media 🥴. I have so many photos waiting to be posted! Hopefully I can get caught up soon! In the meantime let’s revisit this beauty which was featured in the recent issue of

This cake was recently featured in Chicago Style Weddings Magazine. The photoshoot was back in May so although the pictures were hush hush, many people have seen this cake sitting on our display and it's been a big hit..... Hence all the bas relief cakes we have been dong lately.

If you haven't picked up the latest copy of the magazine, pop by and we will give you one!

We participated in Chicago Style Weddings Designer Challenge again this year. We were lucky to be teamed with another amazing team led by . The color scheme was bold and refreshingly different and as always it was fun going with a bold color not he cake. Please pop over to and vote for our team "Crystal Sunshine" because of course our entry is the best 😉😉 Link in bio.

We don't often get to do "other" cakes as we get booked up with weddings so far in advance, by the time people call us for birthdays and showers etc we are unavailable. So when we do get to create something like this cute Beatrix potter 1st birthday cake, it's always a fun treat.

Whose responsibility is it to make sure that the fresh flowers for the cake are suitable and not toxic? Many cake decorators assume that the florist (being the expert) know the flowers are for the cake, therefore they should be OK to use. However it's the cake decorators liability if people get sick from eating the cake! We never assume they are safe and always double check our cheek sheet. If we aren't sure what a variety is, we ask the florist if they are still on site, and if not we don't use it. Three popular wedding flowers that should never go on a cake include Hydrangea, Calla Lily, and Delphenium. If you want those on your cake, make them from sugar! Wikipedia has a handy "List of Poisonous Flowers".

The flowers we were left for Kasia & Joe's cake (pictured) were perfect. Several types of roses, Astilbe, Hypericum and Eucalyptus.

For Angie & Dave's wedding cake we created a custom stencil from their invitation and adapted it into this pretty monogram. It's an effective and fun way of tying different elements from your wedding design together for a really custom look and feel.

This cake also featured our floral Bas Relief which we've been doing a lot of lately! I will never get sick of it!

When ordering flowers for your cake from your florist. Make sure you give the florist a copy of your cake design sketch with the dimensions so that they can see what you/we are envisioning with the flower placement and know how many to order for you. When in doubt we will always be happy talk to the florist on your behalf. Or better yet, order sugar flowers and leave it all to us! These florals on Sarah & Austin's cake worked out perfectly.

Whenever possible we like to set the cake up ourselves where it is to be displayed, but on rare occasion we have to set up elsewhere. Daniela & Tate's scorching hot wedding day was a prime example! Heat and cakes are not friends, so we set up in an air conditioned room and the caterers moved the cake just before the reception started. We're always a little nervous trusting someone else to move a cake... these things are heavy and not easy to move once fully assembled, so it made us so happy to receive this photograph by and see the cake on display and beautifully intact!
