I’ve just realised something about my time in Japan that I’ve never connected before.

I was just a university student. I hadn’t figured out my life yet. But because I was the only British person at the university, I suddenly became the “British girl”.

Sometimes the world decides who you are… before you’ve had the chance to decide for yourself.

How many identities do we spend our lives living... simply because somebody else handed them to us?
