Heading home from a weekend with extended family you know you’re a grown up when home no longer means where you grew up but rather where your life is currently.

Nothing says home like a giant deer head mounted on a wall. This is big Papa. I did not hunt him. One of my very favorite clients, who does hunt, gifted him to me. I love him here, because he reminds me of when I was a young(ER) decorator and just gaining confidence. This was my first out of town job I had, and it was also the first time my decorating work was published in a national magazine- which at that time-was a big deal to me personally.
While I am older now, and that stuff no longer matters to me, (truly)- not being trite, just that I am so over myself and everything swirling around me. It’s more about the actual people and the growth and the work and relationships and providing a future for other people and my children.
I love to look back and recognize how I have grown as a decorator, business owner, boss, wife, mom, friend—all of it. I am quite literally not the same person, in a very good way. I am better. More confident, honest, relaxed, tolerant, capable, strong, unafraid. I guess that is what is supposed to happen. But, I am thankful for it anyway and this here deer is a daily reminder of how far I have come. 🚴‍♀️🦌

Love that nothing matches, including the rug, I love that I typically hate blue, but I used it anyway to push myself, I love that the pillow costs half as much as the bench it sits on, love that my husbands’ grandmothers etchings framed in lacquer have hung in 7 houses by now , really, I just love my home. 🖤
