Same ingredient. Different form. Completely different story.
Here’s something most supplement brands don’t tell you.
Two products can list the exact same ingredient and deliver something completely different to your body. Not because of the dose. Because of the form.
Think of it this way. You can hand someone cash or a cheque made out to someone else. Same value on paper. One is immediately useful. One requires extra steps and sometimes those steps don’t work.
That’s the difference between supplement forms.
**B12** — Most supplements use the cheap version. Your body has to convert it before it can do anything with it. Some people can’t do that efficiently. The better form arrives ready to use. Both say “Vitamin B12” on the label.
**Folate** — The synthetic version in most supplements can’t be used by a significant portion of the population due to a common genetic variation. The better form bypasses that entirely. Both say “folate” on the label.
**Vitamin D** — There are two versions. One is the form your body actually produces. The other is cheaper and less studied. Both say “Vitamin D” on the label.
The label won’t tell you which one you’re getting. That’s the problem.
Knowing what to look for changes everything.
That’s why Clarke Bioscience exists.

Length of life. Quality of mind.
Both shaped by the same daily decisions most people don’t think twice about.
What you eat. How you move. What you give your brain to work with consistently over time. These are not separate conversations. They are the same one.

Nobody stumbles into exceptional health at 65.
It was the decade before that did it. The decisions that felt small at the time. The routine nobody photographed. The early investment in a body and mind that most people hadn’t yet thought to protect.
Intentional is not a personality type. It is a practice. Chosen quietly, consistently, long before the results announce themselves.
The people who age well understood something early that the window for building is longer than most people use it for, and that waiting for a reason is itself a decision.
You already know which kind of person you are.

In this series, we explore how different nutrients are commonly incorporated into daily routines based on their biochemical characteristics.
Today: Iron.
Iron is an essential mineral involved in the formation of haemoglobin the protein in red blood cells studied for its role in carrying oxygen through the body. It also plays a role in cellular energy metabolism and is one of the most commonly insufficient nutrients globally, particularly in women of reproductive age.
Timing and pairing matter significantly with iron.
It is commonly taken in the morning, on an empty stomach. The reasoning is biochemical iron absorption is influenced by what surrounds it in the digestive environment. Taking it away from food allows for more direct absorption through the intestinal wall.
One pairing worth understanding: calcium and iron compete for absorption through the same intestinal pathway. Taking them together at the same time is commonly associated with reduced uptake of both. For those supplementing both nutrients, separating them by several hours is a widely observed practice among those managing their levels with precision.
Vitamin C, on the other hand, is commonly paired with iron. Research has examined its role in supporting the conversion of iron into a more readily absorbed form a consideration worth noting for anyone looking to get the most from their iron routine.
Consistency, as always, remains the most important variable in any supplementation protocol.

They didn't stumble into brilliance. They made these three decisions.
01. They curate what they put into their body.
They read the label. They understand ingredient form. They ask who made it, how it was made, and why each ingredient is there. Quality is not vanity. It is discernment applied to the most important investment they will ever make.
02. They know their numbers. Not just their weight.
Their Vitamin D levels. Their inflammatory markers. Their B12 status and lipid panel. They don't assume. They verify. Because the body rarely announces what's missing — it simply operates below its potential, quietly, over years.
03. They start before they have to.
A supplement routine started in their 40s, not their 60s. Neurological support built into the foundation, not added in response to a problem. They understood early that prevention does not feel urgent until it is too late to be preventative.
These are not extraordinary habits. They are the habits of people who took the long view early enough for it to matter.
Clarke Bioscience was built around exactly this standard.

Three decades of clinical research. Distilled into guides everyone can use.
Dr. Lewis Clarke has spent over thirty years at the intersection of neuroscience, biochemistry, and clinical practice. The Neuroscientist’s Guides are his way of making that depth of knowledge accessible without the noise, without the oversimplification, and without the agenda that comes with most health content.
Neuroplasticity. Nootropics. Cholesterol. Three topics the research returns to repeatedly when examining long-term brain health and three areas where the gap between what science actually says and what most people believe is widest.
These are not summaries. They are the kind of reading that changes how you think about your health for the rest of your life.

Gratitude starts here.
For the body that carried you through everything this week. The mind that kept going when it was easier to stop. The bones that held you upright through all of it.
We spend so much time asking more of ourselves.
This is a reminder to be grateful for what is already here.
What are you grateful for today?

5 things your brain needs that your diet probably isn't providing.
You are eating well but, you're brain may still be running on empty.
The modern diet was built around convenience, taste, and caloric sufficiency. It was not designed around the specific nutritional demands of 86 billion neurons operating under constant metabolic pressure.
These are the five gaps the research returns to most consistently.
𝟎𝟏. 𝐎𝐦𝐞𝐠𝐚-𝟑 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐬
DHA — the primary structural fat in the brain — is essential to neuronal membrane integrity and is studied for its role in neurological function. The brain cannot synthesise it. It must come from diet or supplementation. Most western diets are significantly insufficient.
𝟎𝟐. 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦
Required for over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body — including those that govern cellular energy production and neurological function. Soil depletion, food processing, and chronic stress all reduce what most people are actually absorbing. What the soil lost, your body is still looking for.
𝟎𝟑. 𝐕𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝟑
Less a vitamin, more a neurosteroid. Vitamin D receptors are found throughout the brain. It plays a regulatory role in neurological function and is insufficient in the majority of the population. Sunlight is not a reliable year-round source. Diet rarely closes the gap.
𝟎𝟒. 𝐁 𝐕𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐬 — 𝐁𝟔, 𝐁𝟗, 𝐁𝟏𝟐
Essential cofactors in neurotransmitter synthesis. B12 in particular is poorly absorbed from food in a significant portion of the population — particularly those over 50 and anyone taking certain medications long-term. Form matters here too. Methylcobalamin is the form the body uses directly. Cyanocobalamin requires conversion.
𝟎𝟓. 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐲𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞
A phospholipid integral to neuronal membrane structure. Found in small amounts in food most notably organ meats and fish and consistently underrepresented in the average daily diet.
These are not obscure nutrients. They are foundational, well-studied, well-documented, and consistently underrepresented in the people who need them most.
The brain performs at the level of what it is consistently given.
At Clarke Bioscience this is the conversation that has shaped every formulation decision Dr. Lewis Clarke has made across three decades of research and formulation work.
