Distraction (applied correctly) is key to evading boredom, which can lead to risky behaviors and eventually, relapse. Studies show that there are many benefits to reading in recovery, both for the brain and the physical body. Read to Recovery aims to supply addiction recovery centers with the resources its residents need to succeed in their journey to sobriety. Accepting new and gently used books of all genres and written in any language, Read to Recovery will provide Starter Packs of 25 varied books to detox and rehabilitation centers across the MA/RI area.
