We're saying "goodbye" to Erin as our Food Truck Coordinator! 🥹🥹

Erin is a 2020 Try Pie alumni and just graduated from with a degree in Recreation, Tourism, and Nonprofit Leadership.

Erin was part of the FIRST group of teens to run the food truck, and actually helped dream up the idea as a solution for finding new ways for teens to interact with customers , build leadership skills, AND get more shifts to work in the summer. ✨ She has been our Food Truck Coordinator for the last four summers and it's hard to imagine this piece of the program without her. (But don't worry, she's passing the torch to ANOTHER ALUMNI that we'll introduce soon 🥰)

Ben is on our teen Marketing Committee and interviewed Erin to get her reflections before we cheer her on to what's next. Check it out!

BEN: What is one piece of advice you will give to Dece since she is the new food truck coordinator and you are leaving us? (🥲💔)

ERIN: Food truck can be hard and not easy to learn but just go with the flow. If things goes wrong that’s okay, it’s not the end of the world - everything will be okay and everything will work out. YOU GOT THIS!!! JUST BE CONFIDENT IN YOURSELF.

BEN: What did you learn from Try Pie that you going to cherish forever?

ERIN: Community, I learned what community is and what it looks like. I know how to value you a good one and recognize a bad one.

BEN: What is one thing you are going to miss from Try Pie?

ERIN: The girls and the life updates they give me, and all the different music taste from each girls as we work in the kitchen and on the truck.

BEN: Are you excited for all the things you gonna do after college life?

ERIN: Yes, even thought I don’t know exactly what it will look like and I’m excited for the journey.

BEN: What are you doing after you leaving Try Pie?

ERIN: I started an internship at the Larrabee Center/ Trinkets and Togs and will be applying some of my experience from Try Pie and my degree from UNI there as a nonprofit. I'm excited about it!

We love you, Erin. Thanks for all the ways you've contributed to Try Pie, supported students, and championed the food truck! 💜💛

Last Wednesday, our graduating seniors led our team's Summer Food Truck Training! They took them through each step of preparing to work the food truck, from setting up and cleaning the truck to making shakes and serving customers.

Stay tuned for the schedule of where our truck will be popping up this summer!

Last week, our soon-to-be junior and senior teens completed a leadership training qualifying them to be "Shift Leads" in the kitchen!
Shift Leads:
- Welcome coworkers to their shift
- Help the team keep pace to complete pie production goals
- Maintain a positive and inclusive work environment for teens
- Serve customers in the storefront with excellent customer service

And we just ordered these new aprons making them ✨extra✨ official.

For our Classroom Workshop in the month of May we learned to build a resume and what to do during an interview from Tashshay with . The classroom workshop was really helpful because it got us set up for an interview by going up and acting as if we were in one. Testing our skills on what we know including having us use resume websites to practice how to make one. By Tashshay coming in and explaining etiquette for resume writing and interviewing, it taught us how to present ourselves in those settings.

Thanks Tashshay for your help leading us for this workshop!
