SHOOTING UPDATE: Iowa City Police are searching for 17-year-old Damarian M. Jones of Cedar Rapids in connection with Sunday’s Ped Mall shooting that injured five people.

Police say the victims were not involved in the fight that happened before the gunfire.

Four victims have been released, but one remains in critical condition with a life-threatening head injury.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Iowa City Public Safety.

BREAKING: We now know more about the conditions of the 5 people injured in a shooting in downtown Iowa City overnight, and police are still searching for the suspects.

Iowa City Police say:

• Officers responded to a large fight near the Pedestrian Mall around 1:46 a.m.
• Gunshots were fired as officers arrived
• Five people were shot and taken to local hospitals
• One victim is in critical condition
• Police have released photos of persons of interest

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families as police continue investigating this overnight violence.
