A very kind viewer and her grandsons stopped by the station with the sweetest surprise for Hanalay’s birthday—a HUGE Stitch! 💙

What made this gift even more meaningful is that Hanalay shares a special bond with their youngest grandson. They both have rare types of birthmarks. On top of that, this brave little guy is currently battling cancer. Yet despite everything he’s facing, he and his family took the time to think of someone else!

I got to meet some ROYALTY this week! 👑🤩

The Iowa Dairy Princesses invited me to spend some time with them and share a few public speaking tips. It was great to see their passion for helping people understand where their food comes from and the important role Iowa dairy farmers play in our state.

As promised, here’s our annual birthmark friends update! Nearly 10 years ago, these three girls with port wine stain birthmarks found each other — and it has been so helpful to have this special bond.

In this story, the girls catch up and I talk with a doctor about a new treatment option called PDT. It is showing promise in clinical trials and could change the path for those looking for an alternative to laser treatments.

SHOOTING UPDATE: Iowa City Police are searching for 17-year-old Damarian M. Jones of Cedar Rapids in connection with Sunday’s Ped Mall shooting that injured five people.

Police say the victims were not involved in the fight that happened before the gunfire.

Four victims have been released, but one remains in critical condition with a life-threatening head injury.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Iowa City Public Safety.
