We are honored to award three of our UBMS UNI bound seniors the Dr. Jitu and Harshida Kothari Family Scholarship. We are so proud of their hard work and can’t wait to watch their journey! Congrats to these future PANTHERS! 🎓

Our amazing Summer Program Staff spent all week learning and preparing to to welcome our scholars for the 2025 Summer Academy!

And that’s a wrap! 🎬 Summer program is officially over. We are so proud of the hard work each of our scholars put in this summer. Thank you to all of the university, staff, volunteers, guardians, scholars, and community who each play a part in making sure our scholars have a safe, educational, and fun Summer Academy!

UBMS AND are headed to Chicago to the Chicago Black College Expo!

We are so proud of our two Upward Bound Math and Science Scholars who received the Dr. Jitu and Harshida Kothari Family Scholarship to pursue an education at University of Northern Iowa next year! We are also so proud to watch UNI Educational Talent Search and UNI Upward Bound award their scholars with the Grace and Joe Hall scholarship to two additional UNI Center for Urban Education TRIO students to attend UNI! The scholarships are all for $2,250/year renewable for four years - a total of $9,000! Congratulations on all of your hard work, future panthers!

What a summer! We are so grateful for the support and to be building this program alongside our students, families, community, UNI Center for Urban Education , Waterloo Community School District, and University of Northern Iowa!

UNI's Upward Bound program gives high school students opportunity to experience college Potential students could watch a new series called the “The College Tour," but Upward Board gives them a taste of being on campus and attending classes.

And that’s a wrap! 🎬 Our first summer program together is officially coming to a close, and if we cannot believe how surreal it feels! Our students and staff spent the last six weeks learning, growing, putting themselves outside their comfort zones, and building new relationships. Thanks for the great summer!

Last week UBMS Scholars had the opportunity to meet the President of University of Northern Iowa! President Nook spoke with the students about his own story, the college-going process, and answered their questions about UNI!

We can’t believe we are almost done with week 3 of summer programming! It’s been incredible to explore and watch our scholars grow.
