The Streamside Buffer Initiative Pilot Project is available in Black Hawk County! Call or stop by the office to see if this is an option on your farm.
The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship launched a Streamside Buffer Initiative Pilot Project to improve water quality in priority watersheds, including those upstream from Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. The new project encourages farmers and landowners to plant perennial buffers in fields along streams to prevent nutrient runoff from entering these important source water areas. This voluntary, flexible program encourages conservation that is practical and impactful. Learn more at CleanWaterIowa.org.
