Birds
Day 3

Bird expert and photographer, Darrin Siefken, was our special guest today!

Darrin showed us his spotting scope, binoculars, monocular, and camera that he uses when photographing birds.

We learned that sometimes a bird watcher needs to be camouflaged, so we tried on Darrin's camo gear!

Darrin took us on a bird watching hike around the area and taught us how to take pictures using digital cameras. That was so much fun!

A huge thank you to Darrin for spending the morning with us!

Birds
Day 2

Today we learned about feet and beaks.

We looked at pictures of different types of bird feet, and were lucky enough to see Mr. House Sparrow's feet in real life as he perched on the fence for us!

After learning about bird feet, we moved on to beaks. We read "A Peek at Beaks" and visited each of our 14 bird feeders to discuss what kind of beak the birds might have who visit the feeders.

Then we turned into birds! We tried several different types of beaks as we pretended to eat like birds.

We're looking for gently used digital cameras for our Art & Nature week this summer.

If you have a digital camera that you no longer use, but is still in working condition, we'd love to give it a new home!

If you'd like to donate a camera, please send us a message or email [email protected] .

Thank you!

It was a beautiful morning for our Noticing Nature event! Today's topic was birds, and we had a wonderful time exploring, observing, and learning together.

🦃 Did you know wild turkeys can fly 50 mph?

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We appreciate everyone who came out and noticed nature!

*This was the only picture I took this morning because I was having so much fun! -miss melissa
