🚨 Big News for Businesses!
On December 3, 2024, a federal district court in Texas issued a nationwide preliminary injunction that temporarily halts enforcement of the CTA and its beneficial ownership information (BOI) reporting requirements.
Here’s what this means:
👉 The January 1, 2025, deadline for submitting initial BOI reports is currently on hold.
👉 Companies are not required to report BOI to FinCEN while this injunction is in effect.
👉 There will be no penalties for failing to submit BOI reports during this time.
FinCEN has also clarified that companies may still voluntarily submit their BOI reports.
It’s worth noting that the Department of Justice has filed an appeal, and the situation could change quickly.
To avoid potential last-minute challenges if enforcement resumes, it’s a good idea to prepare your documents and forms now.
This way, your business will be ready to comply without scrambling to meet deadlines.

Attention business owners! If you paid $600 or more to a non-employee contractor or an unincorporated business this year, don’t forget you need to issue them a 1099-NEC by January 31, 2025.
Similarly, third-party payment processors like PayPal must issue 1099-K forms by this date for accounts that fall within the new reporting threshold requirements.
Get started now to avoid last-minute stress and gather all necessary information like your contractor's W-9 form and make sure everything is accurate.
As a self-employed individual, you should wait to file your tax return until you've received all your 1099 forms to ensure your reported income matches.

The holiday season is all about celebrating and giving, but don’t forget to stay on top of your bookkeeping!
Here’s a quick guide to help keep them in order:
1. Track those party expenses (venue, catering, entertainment) and make sure they’re categorized correctly.
2. If you’re giving gifts, you can deduct up to $25 per client per year, so keep those receipts handy and note who the gift is for.
3. Cash bonuses for your team? Don’t forget they’re taxable, so be sure to record them properly in payroll.
