Orchard Ridge Church

Yesterday we looked at 1 Samuel 20:3 which says “…Yet as surely as the Lord lives and as you live, there is only a step between me and death.”

These were David’s words to his close friend Jonathan because Jonathan’s father, King Saul, was trying to kill David.

But these words are true for ALL of us. We aren’t guaranteed today or tomorrow. We are only a step away from death. Many hope for one day more. But every day we live is actually one day less of the time we have left. BUT…. THERE’S GOOD NEWS!

Because of Christ - we are only a step away from LIFE. Eternal Life.

24 One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. – Proverbs 18:24
The irony of our time is that we are more digitally “connected” than we’ve ever been, but loneliness has become one of the most serious health issues facing people today. We may have many Facebook or Instagram friends, but TRUE friends are difficult to find. Without “reliable” friends, Proverbs 18:24 says we can come to ruin. But with God there is HOPE. There is ALWAYS HOPE!

This morning at Orchard Ridge, we are going to talk not only about the NEED for a close friend, but also HOW to go about entering into such a relationship.

It's true! It's not the MOST ATTENDED weekly gathering of the church, but it IS the MOST IMPORTANT!

24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. - Hebrews 10:25

Where does the LIFE of the BODY of Christ (the Church) come from? The Source, of course, is the Holy Spirit! The early church first came ALIVE when the believers were gathering for prayer in the Upper Room and the Holy Spirit was poured out ON them and IN them. It's no different TODAY. Something special happens when God's people are faithful to PRAY; more specifically PRAY TOGETHER while in His Presence!

Friends - Bible Studies, Men's and Women's Groups, Sunday music and preaching are all good and needed. BUT unless God's Spirit is in it, we are wasting our time!

Good afternoon, church!

Our Rooted Fall Retreat is coming up on November 13-15, and if you have students who you would like to send on the trip, here is the information and signup QR code!

Why should you send your students on our Fall Retreat? Well, the main goal of our retreats are DISCIPLESHIP! It is my mission and desire to partner with the Holy Spirit to create within your students a deeper love of God and others, a deeper passion for service, and a drive to go out into the world as a light in the darkness. Our Fall Retreat is an opportunity to get away from the norm of life and have a time and space dedicated and devoted to seeking the presence of God!

We will have a guest speaker, Caleb Hadden, a young pastor and ministry director for Youth for Christ, who will be going through Psalm 63, encouraging us to "Remember This Place." We will be having a great time hitting the dunes, having bonfires, doing high ropes/rock wall activities, and having an overall WONDERFUL time!

The cost is $120, which includes the cost of the camp itself, shirts, and traveling costs! This is a weekend that very well could transform your student's lives, and so as a pastor of the next generation, I encourage you to send your students on this trip!
