In honor of Pi Day, Reach recognizes the dedication and hard work of our very own P*s!

Program Instructors bring our programs to life in schools as they turn ideas into real impact for the students and communities we serve. They are the heart of our work, and we appreciate all that they do. ✨

Please mark your calendars: Read to Rise returns on May 7, 2026!

This special evening brings together our community to celebrate the power of literacy, honor the incredible work of our youth tutors, and support Reach’s mission of empowering young people through education and leadership. We’re excited to gather with you once again for an inspiring night of stories, impact, and community.

This spring, 20 Reach seniors will graduate high school—preparing to write the next chapter of their lives. I am excited to share that the 2026 Read to Rise will help support scholarship funds for their journeys ahead.

More details will be coming soon, but for now, save the date — we hope you’ll join us!

This year for Black History, we set out to amplify the voices of Reach tutors by asking which influential black figures have inspired them. From civil rights leader Malcom X to present-day artist Coco Jones, the tutors from the Ballou cohort shared the trailblazers, change-makers, and cultural icons who have shaped their understanding of Black history; and the modern voices who continue to inspire them today. 🤎

“She was strong and I respect that. The idea that she was just a young girl in a hostile environment while her parents wanted her to have a better life… I think that’s incredible. I really admire her.” — Lila (10th grade) on Ruby Bridges

“Coco really inspired me when I saw her as a child on television. She inspired me to be myself; to do what I want to do and pursue my passions.” — Kayla (9th grade) on Coco Jones

“I stand firm for things I believe in, and so did he. I connected with the things he fought for like civil/equal rights. In our community, we sometimes struggle to ask for help when in need, so having a voice in the community can be very important.” — Micah (12 grade) on Malcolm X

Reach would like to extend sincere gratitude to everyone who donated. Because of your generosity, we are able to continue the work that matters most.

Your support helped us raise $12,689! Your donations help fuel our work, bring real change, and we truly couldn’t do this without you! ❤️

(If you haven’t given yet, you still have time! Reach’s end-of-year appeal continues until December 31.)

There’s still time to make your impact. When you give tonight, your donation will be doubled.

As a community, we’ve already accomplished so much today, raising over $12,180 for Reach’s programs. Let’s finish strong—because Together, We Shine Brighter.

Make your Giving Tuesday gift before midnight.

Today is Giving Tuesday—the largest day of global online charitable giving!

In 2025-26, Reach is serving 5 elementary school campuses (an increase from 4 in 2024-25), reviving the Teen Leadership Council, and expanding the Teen Publishing Project from summer into the school-year, enabling more Reach tutors to become published authors before they graduate high school!

This year, a member of the Reach, Incorporated Board of Directors and the Dexter and Lydia Manley Foundation have each pledged $5,000!

Can you help us MATCH this amount today? If we hit this target, Reach will be able to invite another cohort (a high school + an elementary school) into our community - providing vital literacy intervention to DC students. ANY contribution you make will be matched - dollar-for-dollar - up to $10,000.

When we come together as a community, our collective light shines brighter than ever.
