Noem, Patel, et. al. are saying you can’t carry a gun to a protest. But it’s ok for Rittenhouse and the Jan. 6th mob. Hmm, double standards.

And they’re painting the left as if we are suddenly interested in preserving the 2nd Amendment! My problem with the 2A is its loose interpretation by the NRA and gun nuts.

ALT TEXT: Simple drawing of a gun shooting out a flag. The flag says "Hold on...the Second Amendment applies only to SOME Americans!?" The word BANG! surround the gun. The text below reads "Justice for Alex Pretti. An American citizen murdered by ICE for exercising his First and Second Amendment rights."

Kraftwerk: Multimedia World Tour at Anthem, March 16, 2025. Who knew 4 German men playing music on computers could exude so much humanity. Somehow, for me, they did. Spectacular show!

Last year I worked with Sarah J. Hull on designing her book, Beginner's Breath: 100 Cupforms. It's both a showcase for her work and a primer for those wishing to learn more about glassblowing.

It was extra fun work because I had to put together several fold-out pages, something that hasn't come up in my 25-plus years doing print design.

These New Yorkers Don’t ❤️ the ‘We ❤️NYC’ Logo 03/22/2023

Let's talk about this companion logo to the legendary Milton Glaser's I ❤️ NY. To put it mildly, it's a miss. Looks like someone just typed it out in Canva and used a stock heart shape.

These New Yorkers Don’t ❤️ the ‘We ❤️NYC’ Logo Promoters said the campaign, which draws on a successful tourism slogan from the 1970s, was aimed at cutting through pandemic-era negativity. So far, it’s getting rough reviews.

This wine bottle! Not only does it contains a lovely drink, but the label has splendid typography and design, maps, AND a dog. Some of my favorite things! I finished the bottle off weeks ago, but I love this label so much that I’ve left it sitting on my kitchen counter. Look, even the cork has a dog on it. Did you see the barcode? There’s a dog there too! I love this style—there’s a lot packed in there, but it is so skillfully done, it doesn’t look too busy or cluttered.

The Hidden Image Descriptions Making the Internet Accessible 02/22/2022

Great piece in the New York Times about alt-text (descriptions of images for sight-impaired.) It's wonderful to see more and more awareness of the need for accessibility. Bonus: some of the AI generated descriptions are hilarious!

The Hidden Image Descriptions Making the Internet Accessible The challenge of describing every image on the internet, and the people who are trying.
