Every year, our tradition teaches us to remember both the bitterness of slavery and the joy of liberation. We recall the narrow places we’ve left through stories of persecution and resilience, in our own lives and in our people’s history. We carry the imprint of ancestors who struggled for thousands of years to preserve our tradition, who lit candles in the darkness, sang songs in their native ton

IfNotNow just launched a historic campaign to stop the flow of U.S. weapons to Israel. The past decade IfNotNow has spent organizing U.S. Jews is bearing fruit. We are seeing an incredible sea change among our communities – but we need to keep building in order to stop the bombs and the bulldozers.

We are appalled that U.S. politicians and Jewish communal institutions marched alongside war criminal Bezalel Smotrich, other fascist Israeli leaders, and pro-apartheid organizations like the Hebron Fund at Sunday’s Israel Day parade in New York.
The extremist members of Israel’s government who participated have proudly supported genocide, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing. By their own public admission, they have promoted the starvation of Palestinians in Gaza, the illegal annexation of the West Bank, and the intentional killing of Palestinian children. Their actions merit criminal proceedings and sanctions — not a parade.
It is shameful that establishment Jewish institutional leaders like the ADL’s Jonathan Greenblatt promoted this event as a celebration of Jewish culture, when in reality it served to platform war criminals. And it is misleading and dangerous to claim that Mayor Mamdani’s decision not to attend signals a lack of support for Jewish New Yorkers. Our political and communal leaders must stop equating the Jewish community with the genocidal government of Israel. It is antisemitic, and it puts us all in grave danger.

Last week IfNotNow kicked off our new campaign “The Jewish Future Demands Not Another Bomb” with a communal conversation about blocking U.S. weapons to Israel.
Speakers included Kohenet Shoshana A Brown, Black Jewish Liberation Collective Co-founder, along with IfNotNow’s Executive Director Morriah Kaplan, Democratic nominee for Illinois’s 9th Congressional District .biss, Nadav David, and Executive Director, Leah Greenberg.
Here connects support for blocking weapons to Israel to Yohanan Ben Zakkai and the rich history of Jewish anti-war beliefs and efforts.

Jewish Currents just covered our synagogue organizing strategy for our new campaign! We’re proud to be doing the challenging, transformative work of organizing our U.S. Jewish communities toward a new vision for safety and demanding an end to the violent status quo of U.S. military support for Israel.
Our movement’s organizing over the last decade has contributed to massive shifts among U.S. Jews and political leaders. But the fight to translate those shifts into real, lasting policy change requires organizing thousands more people in our community.
Join our call “Seeding the Jewish Future” on June 10 to learn all about our strategy and theory of change. We are building a movement for our future — in our synagogues, in the streets, and in the halls of power.

On Shavuot we celebrate the gift of Torah, which forbids murder, commands us to love the stranger, and implores us to pursue justice. This year, we watch in horror as the Israeli government uses U.S.-provided weapons to carry out genocide, ethnic cleansing, and apartheid in the name of Jewish safety.
More and more, our beloved U.S. Jewish communities are rejecting the false promise of safety through militarism. As a multiracial movement of U.S. Jews, we know that the only true safety is shared safety. A thriving future requires safety, equality, and freedom for all: Palestinians and Lebanese people, Iranians and Israelis, our neighbors and ourselves.
May Shavuot 5786 fill us all with the spirit of Torah and strengthen our courage, love, and integrity as we rise to our proudest traditions and highest prophetic aspirations. Together, we say loudly and clearly: Not another bomb.

Shavuot celebrates the revelation of Torah on Mount Sinai, and it is tradition to study all night long to use learning as a tool for repairing a broken world.
The 24 hour teach-in will offer workshops on wide ranging topics from protective presence work, wealth redistribution, prison abolition, arms embargo, and so much more. Join for one session or stay for the whole 24 hours.

We are horrified to learn of the deadly shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. We mourn those murdered and send our love to their families. May their memories be for a blessing.
As a multiracial movement of U.S. Jews, we stand in solidarity with Muslim communities against surging Islamophobic hate, racism, gun violence, scapegoating, white Christian nationalism, and fascist attacks on immigrant communities. A better world is possible. We won’t stop fighting for a thriving future where all people are safe and free.
