Veterans Day is an opportunity to commemorate those who have served our country in wartime and in peace, and to reflect on their sacrifice and service to our country. It is a time to honor our military veterans. On Veterans Day, we all take a moment to reflect on the bravery and dedication of our veterans—many of whom have given the ultimate sacrifice.

This past weekend our very own Lt. Col. Frank Musisi was awarded the Africa Diaspora Award of Excellence in Humanitarianism for his community outreach both in the United States and Africa. Lt. Col. Musisi was nominated by the Uganda Community Organization of Michigan, and he was presented the award by the United Africa Community Organization. Congratulations Lt. Col. Musisi!

Last week we said farewell to Mr. Bryan McVeigh. Mr. McVeigh retires with 14 years of civilian service on top of his 26 years in the Army. Before becoming the Acting Deputy Program Executive Officer, Mr. McVeigh served as Project Manager Mounted Armored Vehicles, Project Manager Force Projection and the Assistant Program Executive Officer - Operations at PEO GCS. Mr. McVeigh had a long and impressive career and will be greatly missed.

Lt. Gen. (Retired) Joseph Yakovac was inducted into the 2024 Class of United States Army Acquisition Hall of Fame. Yakovac was instrumental in delivering capabilities to the field in his work with PEO GCS as the former PM Bradley and PEO!

The Stryker ICVVA1-30mm lethality upgrade program is on target for First Unit Equipped in early 2025. Throughout 2024, the system performed well during Production Verification Testing at Aberdeen Test Center. In May, Soldiers performed gunnery and force-on-force exercises during the Follow-on Operational Test and Evaluation at Yakima Training Center. Fieldings are anticipated throughout the next three years.

The ICVVA1-30mm will replace the predecessor ICVD “Dragoon” vehicle, providing much needed upgrades to decade-old technology. The ICVVA1-30mm offers several improvements, including improved firepower, increased engagement stand-off distances, improved day/night optics, and situational awareness. The ICVVA1-30mm also utilizes the modern base chassis DVHA1, which provides increased horsepower, electrical power, mobility and an in-vehicle network. The Army’s SBCT formations highly anticipate the arrival of the ICVVA1-30mm.
