I've enjoyed the Grateful Dead and the shows once I found out about them. They were popular in Detroit but on Detroit Radio not so much. Had some of the best times around their music and concerts.
Towards the end of Covid I found myself drinking heavy, I already new I drank to much as it is and it got scary . So I sat down and asked myself what I wanted out of life wrestling with withdrawals and bottle in my hand and bunch pills on the table guitar propped up against the couch. Looking at the TV scanning through Netflix. Up popped a documentary called The Other One Bob Weir. I popped it on took a few steps to ease my withdrawals and watched. Of course it talked about his life with the grateful Dead, but it also showed what happened after settled down had children picked up the torch and carried on after Jerry.
I could relate to it cuz I felt like partying was over things were quite the same I hadn't picked up the guitar in a while due to back problems. Kind of disgusted at the task of keeping a band together. Pretty sure I was right but things won't be quite the same after they open up post covid. But watching that inspired me to pick the guitar back up put the bottle down try to find something other than pills to alleviate pain inside and out.
Even though I never met the guy I was in the same room with him, all be it a big room. Of course. Jerry Inspired me as a lead guitar player, but Bobby inspired me pay attention to the rhythm the chords more and watching is the story inspired me to become a better man.
I figure I got one good round left in me for music, so I'm going to give it my all.May the music never stop!! Not sure what direction I'm going in other than forward.
