Our deer may not be on exhibit anymore, but they're enjoying a much deserved retirement behind the scenes🦌

They continue to receive the same dedicated care, enrichment, and lots of love from their keepers every day. We're honored to provide a comfortable home where they can enjoy their golden years surrounded by the people who care for them most 💕

-Maverick the black-footed cat will be available in the Ranch House Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 11am-1pm 😻
-Ravi will be on exhibit Saturday (and Monday & Thursday!), subject to change due to weather and animals' decision to be on exhibit 🦧
-Catch a glimpse of our first two African penguin chicks as they venture out of their nests 🐧

The animal care team at is gearing up for the first ever Enrichment Extravaganza! 🎉

Each animal care department will create beach themed enrichment for one exhibit, using largely recycled materials. The best part: guests at the Zoo on July 4th will vote for the winner! The winning team will receive extra funds for enrichment in their department 😎🌴🐚

At Cameron Park Zoo, enrichment is an important part of the care and husbandry programs provided for each species housed at our facility. Enrichment programs play an important role in the physical and psychological well being of the animals.

What may look to you like trash or toys in an animal habitat is actually an enrichment activity (or the remains of one) that the animals were given to stimulate their bodies and minds.

There are several reasons why you may not see an animal out on exhibit, and these include cleaning, habitat enhancement projects, and pool maintenance! 🐪🦒🐅

For example, each week the Animal Care team cleans a different pool. While they try to do this early in the day or when the Zoo is not open, it could be the reason you don't see a certain animal. We have some projects coming up soon so stay tuned for those details! 👀
