One of our favorite memories from University for Young People happened completely by chance.

While having lunch in the cafeteria, our youngest scholars impressed Dr. Julia Chan, Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry and Materials Science, with their good behavior. Before long, she invited them on an impromptu tour of her research lab.

Our answer? An enthusiastic YES! ✨

Chemistry & Biochemistry

This fall, our Stratford-on-Odeon Literary Society for 8th-12th graders explores the enduring power of horror through the short fiction of Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King.

Across five seminars, we'll examine how these two masters transform fear, guilt, grief, obsession, and the unknown into stories that illuminate the human condition.

Together, we'll ask:
🖤 Why do we seek stories that frighten us?
🖤 Is the greatest horror found in monsters—or ourselves?
🖤 What can horror reveal about being human that other genres cannot?

Our DECATS students brought their classroom learning to life last week with a visit to the Waco Mammoth National Monument! 🦣🔎

After spending the week in their Unearthing the Past class, where they explored the fascinating work of paleontologists and archaeologists, students had the opportunity to see history and science in action. From discovering how the mammoth fossils were uncovered to hearing how researchers pieced together stories from the past, the field trip was the perfect hands-on extension of their learning.

Our DECATS at Baylor students have been hard at work tackling challenges, thinking outside the box, and learning together every step of the way!
