Everybody has a little bit of the sun and moon in them. Everybody has a little bit of man, woman, and animal in them. Darks and lights in them. Everyone is part of a connected cosmic system. Part earth and sea, wind and fire, with some salt and dust swimming in them. We have a universe within ourselves that mimics the universe outside. None of us are just black or white, or never wrong and always right. No one. No one exists without polarities. Everybody has good and bad forces working with them, against them, and within them.

Fear is irrational and rational all at the same time. It doesnt make sense that as I stand at this bowl, one I've skated hundreds of times, I feel the desire to throw up. My heart races. I also am skating alone, which I haven't done in probably a year, which adds to the anxiety.

In addition, I am riding a new board, the biggest pool board I've ever skated. Add not skating parks in months and I feel almost like I'll give up and just go home.

As I stand there, I realize this is like life. There will be no "perfect" moment to face this stupid fear, and even if i was with people, I'd still feel the fear. I can let this get to me and hold me back or i can face it and push through. And in the end I am a skater. I know I can do this and will continue to face my fears as I come back to parks more going forward.

So this isnt my most badass run by far, but who fu**in cares. What IS badass? Facing fears and wanting to run away and NOT letting that get to you.

And btw bigger boards and wheel bite eating s**t is fun 🤣 at least I got a clip of it lol

Last week this girl needed assistance with the drop in and yesterday she came, put pads on and wanted to do it all by herself......and dominated!!! So proud of her for continuing to face her fears!!

Just another Tuesday at Monarch. First time has been on a board since her surgery. Friends help friends continue to skate through an injury. Teamwork makes the dreamwork!

Love skating with these girls and is the most supportive and encouraging kid ever! We were all working on hand assisted slides. Day 1! Let's just say I like slides! I love skating for challenging me to think creative and try new things. More to come for sure!

The evolution of facing your fears to drop in on guy our own. Thankful for Ryan, a new volunteer for helping her face her fears in her own way. And she eventually got it!!! The first drop in is always so inspiring to watch and she never gave up!!
