We are so very proud of German and Sam, who brought home the Virginia High School State Tennis Doubles Championship. You guys are the absolute best! German also was Runner Up in the the singles competition - and that's a major accomplishment in itself. A big shout out to Matt Baan and Fynn Wiefler who were instrumental in getting the Cox HS team to a semi-final berth in States. And more of our elite players afforded themselves spectacularly in regional and state competition, like Deja Thomas and Pranav Mohan.

Special thanks to The Cape's Head Pro, Dan McCain for his tireless efforts in molding these ultra-talented young players into champions.

Here's a representative sample of our Sunday-Sundae Open Play gang. This past Sunday we all wished our birthday boy, Mark (center) a very happy birthday! Sunday-Sundae Open Play at Cape Henry Racquet Club: The ONLY place to play pickleball and get free ice cream! It happens every Sunday from 1pm - 3pm at The Cape in Virginia Beach.

We have tweaked our "Learning League" to become even more instructional. Introducing our new Thursday Night Learning + Open Play...with IFB - that's Interrupted Feedback. Here's how it works: We work on a single technique/tactic/strategy for 30 minutes and then go into open play - attempting to integrate what you just learned into your game play. At times your game may be interrupted with commentary to reinforce what was learned earlier. Here at The Cape - we are committed to your improvement! Thursday Night Learning + Open Play happens each and every Thursday evening from 7 to 9pm. Come on out and give it a try!

This evening and every Thursday evening from 7 to 9pm - it's THE PICKLEBALL LEARNING LEAGUE. In this evening's session you will learn how to beat the ball to the bounce via early prep - above and below the waist. This session could very well change the way you play, and it happens ONLY at The Cape. See you on court.

And while we're on the subject of praising our Junior Elites, WAY TO GO, Deja Thomas, who brought home the gold in Virginia HS Girls Doubles Tennis Class 6, Region A. Deja is a long time standout in our Head Pro, Dan McCain's Elite Junior Program.

We are so very proud of each and every one of our high school elite players at The Cape - but a few have really distinguished themselves and have been instrumental in their school's continued success this 2026 season.

Cox HS German Gonzalez brought home the Class 5 Region A Boys title, and is headed to the Virginia Class 5 Semifinals. German also teamed with Cox' Sam Dixon to win the Class 5 Region A Doubles, and they will be in the Virginia Class 5 Semifinals.

Meanwhile Cox HS with added CHRC standouts, Matt Baan and Fynn Wiefler, won the Virginia Class 5 Championship and will be the top seed in the Virginia Class 5 Team Championship Quarterfinals..

And finally, a shout out to Ocean Lakes HS standout, Pranav Mohan, as he leads the Dolphins into the Virginia Class 5 Championsip Quarterfinals.

The Cape Henry Racquet Club Junior Elite Program: Where Champions Play!

This evening at 6:30, and every Wednesday evening this Summer at The Cape: Pickleball Fun & Games - have a great time while you drill and improve. This evening, play Transition Zone Volley and Groundstroke Location Jail. Then it's on to a rousing game or two of Pickleball 105. Come on out, have fun, and improve!

Our Tuesday Night All Level Clinic runs from 6 - 8pm every week. This evening: Amp DOWN your power and amp UP your placement!
