$5 Friday: The Stars Kittens ⭐️ 🐱💜

The Stars kittens may not be the sickest looking kittens we’ve posted, but don’t let that fool you; these babies don’t feel good. 😢

After a bout of upper respiratory symptoms that worsened over the last couple days, they needed to see the vet as it was starting to affect their appetite.

Thankfully they were seen at Independence Veterinary Hospital today and started on a medication regiment that should help them start to feel better.

If you have $5 you can spare, please consider donating to help us cover the cost of their care today so we can keep funds available for other animals in the future.

Thank you! 💜

Donnie says THANK YOU to everyone who donated to help cover his urgent care vet bill. ❤️

His wound is healing nicely, and he’s feeling much better. The only problem? Donnie has decided that cones are optional. 😅 He keeps finding ways to take his off, but thankfully he hasn’t been bothering his stitches. We’ll keep working on finding a cone that fits this sweet (and slightly mischievous) boy a little better.

Donnie would also like to remind everyone that he and his brothers are available for adoption! They’ve been through a lot, but they’re now safe, loved, and ready to find families of their own.

Interested in adopting? Send us a message to learn more about Donnie and his brothers. 🐾

Poor Donnie. 😣

Donnie and his two brothers came into our care yesterday after living in poor conditions. We later learned the dogs had been living in a chicken coop and were covered in fleas when they arrived.

During Donnie’s intake exam, we discovered a wound on his side that needed immediate medical attention. Because it was late in the day and couldn’t wait until a regular veterinary appointment, we took Donnie to urgent care.

After being examined, Donnie had to be sedated so the veterinary team could properly clean and stitch up his wound. Through it all, he was an absolute sweetheart and allowed the staff to do everything they needed to help him.

Donnie is such a loving boy. While we were waiting for the veterinarian, he spent part of the time leaning against us giving us a hug. 🥹 Despite everything he’s been through, all he wanted was attention and affection. ❤️

A huge thank you to Nexus Veterinary Urgent Care for fitting Donnie into their schedule and taking such great care of him.

Donnie is going to be just fine, but unexpected medical expenses like this add up quickly. If you’d like to help us cover the cost of Donnie’s care, please consider making a donation. Ways to give can be found in the comments.

Thank you!

Donnie and his brothers are also available for adoption! So if you’re interested, please come see them. 💜

We’ll post a video of them in the comments as well!

The only kind of fail we love…a foster fail! 🐾

We’re so excited to share that River Willow has officially been adopted by her foster family! ❤️🥹

River came to us heartworm positive and began her heartworm treatment while in foster care. Somewhere along the way, her foster family completely fell in love, and honestly, we can’t blame them.

She is currently halfway through her heartworm treatment, and we will continue covering the cost of her care until she completes treatment and is officially heartworm free.

Congratulations to River and her wonderful family. We are so happy this sweet girl found exactly where she belongs. 🏡❤️🐾

💜 Smokey Ellis Update 💜

If you aren’t familiar with Smokey Ellis, he’s a 7-year-old poodle mix who came to us after being surrendered by his owner, who stated they were tired of having him groomed and giving him his eye medication.

When Smokey came to us, it was obvious his eyes were bothering him. He had significant irritation, redness, and discharge, and looked understandably uncomfortable.

Since then, Smokey has visited the eye specialist, where he was diagnosed with inflammation of his eyelids. After treatment and a little time with us, the improvement has been incredible.

Just look at the difference between these two photos. 🥹

Smokey still has a follow-up appointment scheduled so we can determine what maintenance care he may need moving forward, but we’re thrilled with the progress he’s made so far.

Smokey is currently available for adoption, and we can’t wait to see him find the family he deserves. 💜🐾

Turns out all Smokey really needed was someone willing to care.

Meet Smokey 🐾

This sweet 7-year-old senior poodle recently came to us and would love nothing more than to recover in a home environment surrounded by love and comfort. ❤️

Yesterday, Smokey visited the eye specialist at Animal Eye Care, where he was diagnosed with blepharitis—inflammation of the eyelids, likely secondary to allergies.

He will also be seeing one of our regular veterinarians to address a possible ear infection and continue managing his medical care. Right now, Smokey is on four different eye medications as well as a steroid, and we are hopeful that with the right treatment plan, his eyes will become more comfortable and manageable over time. He is scheduled to return to the eye specialist again in three weeks.

Smokey was recently surrendered to us after his previous owner reportedly became tired of grooming him and giving him his eye medication. Unfortunately, none of this is something Smokey can help—he simply needs care.

What he gives in return, though, is endless sweetness. As you can see from these photos, Smokey is incredibly affectionate, happy, and loving despite everything he’s been through. We’re grateful to be able to get him the care he deserves—now we just need to find him the right person willing to continue that care and love him the way he always should have been loved. 🐶✨

We are still looking for a foster-to-adopt home for Smokey. If you’re interested in helping this sweet boy, please reach out to us at [email protected].

Update on Tomoe 💜

We’re happy to report that Tomoe’s FHO surgery was successful, and he’s doing great!

While he was under anesthesia, dental x-rays were also completed in preparation for his next surgery, which is scheduled for June 29th.

Tomoe will likely need a couple of teeth extracted, and part of his jaw will need to be removed due to the severity of his previous injuries. After that, this should finally be the last major step in his recovery journey so he can live comfortably and pain-free.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated toward his care and helped make this surgery possible. We truly could not do this without you. 💜

We’ll link the previous post below for anyone who would still like to help with Tomoe’s ongoing medical expenses. 🐾
