High Five
Tackling children's challenging behaviors one sensory strategy at a time. A True Blue Therapy training program for parents, caregivers and educators.
Heavy work and deep pressure is the fuel for the proprioceptive system. It helps to keep the children calm and organized.
When we do heavy work activities, messages are sent from receptors of our muscles and joints to the brain and this message tells our brain where your body is in space. It often helps to equalize our sensory system. That is very important for a child to feel safe!!!

Happy Easter š£š°
Shhhhhā¦.. I have a secret to share⦠We all have super powers! The super power lays in these two hidden sensory systems : the vestibular and the proprioceptive systems.
The gustatory and the olfactory system work very close together. The smell of your favorite food can get your mouth watering⦠and some intense food smells might get you nauseous.
High five is designed to help parents and caregivers navigate challenging behaviors in typical kids and special needs kids. It will help you identify the triggers and it will also guide you on the best strategies to address the behaviors. As an occupational therapist working with children for more than 20 years I have seeing a lot of behaviors and my goal is the help parents tackle the behavior while embracing the uniqueness of their children. Visit our website to get more information about our program.

there are generally believed to be at least four primary sensations of taste: sour, salty, sweet, and bitter. Those are very unique and powerful sensations and when those taste buds are tickled we make some funny faces!

Gustation is the special sense associated with the tongue. The surface of the tongue, along with the rest of the oral cavity, is lined by raised bumps called papillae (singular = papilla) , known as our taste buds.
Where the olfactory system celebrates! A lot of family memories are created in the kitchen. Just thinking about that Thanksgiving cooking can bring back aromas and memories that will warm your heart.
YIKES! At times the olfactory system experiences some very unpleasant smellsā¦
That will stay in your memory for a long time! I bet this is bringing back some very stinky memories!
