This St. Patrick's Day, we thought it was only right to talk green. 🍀
NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) measures plant health and vigor using light. Healthy plants absorb red light for photosynthesis but reflect near-infrared light. NDVI calculates that difference on an index between -1 and +1. Low values signal stressed, sparse, or dormant vegetation. High values mean dense, actively growing, healthy plants.
Apogee's NDVI sensors are designed to measure continuous irradiance (upward-looking sensor) and radiance (downward-looking sensor) indoors or out.
