Being able to name and recognize rhyming words is a helpful skill to have as a child enters kindergarten. Research shows that if a child knows 8 nursery rhymes by heart by the time they are 4 years old, they are usually among the best readers and spellers in their class by the time they are 8 years old. So, reading nursery rhymes is not only fun but very helpful!📕📗📘

THIS is why what we do is so important!!!

We had one family show up this evening for the free developmental screenings. They received a list of activities to work on at home and a couple of books. We will have another one on Saturday, June 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Today at Group Connection, we saw the ducks, decorated our pots and planted a flower! Thanks to the families who came out! We had a great time!!!

If you have a child ages 2 months-5 years old and want them to receive a FREE developmental screening, stop by the UC First Steps office tonight from 5:00-7:30.

Don’t forget Group Connection today at 11:00. We are planting flowers!

We are accepting applications for our Parents As Teacher Program for our 2026-2027 year! If you are pregnant or have a child under the age of 3, please complete the Google form linked at the top of our page! The PAT Supervisor will be in contact with you.

Did you know that children entering kindergarten should be able to recognize and draw basic shapes such as :circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval and diamond? Have fun looking for these shapes and practice drawing them. 👀✏️
