🌟 RECAP ROCKSTAR: MAY 2026 🌟

At POP Tutoring, recaps are so much more than paperwork.

They are one of the most important ways we communicate student progress, celebrate growth, and partner with families. A great recap tells parents what was taught, how the student performed, what growth was observed, and what comes next.

Out of more than 600 recaps submitted during the month of May, these educators earned Perfect Recap status, and one educator was randomly selected as our monthly winner.

Congratulations to Mrs. Sarah Platten, our May Recap Rockstar! 🎉

One thing I love about Mrs. Platten's recaps is how specific they are. She gives parents a clear picture of exactly what happened during the session and how the student is growing.

For example, she noted that her student was "happy, excited, and very eager to work" and then documented specific academic growth, writing:

💜 "He is getting stronger with this skill and I observed he has greatly reduced the use of counting on his fingers and using more mental math."

She also explained the strategies being taught, including multiplication methods, doubles and near doubles, subtraction with regrouping, benchmark multiples, reading comprehension, prefixes, suffixes, and compound words.

Most importantly, she highlighted the student's growing confidence:

And she ended with encouragement that reminds families their child is seen as a person, not just a student:

That is the kind of communication families deserve.

This one is extra emotional for me. 🥹💜

One of the hardest and most beautiful parts of growing POP Tutoring has been realizing that I can no longer personally tutor the students I love so deeply. As the business side has grown, I’ve had to step back from one-on-one sessions in order to continue building a team of incredible educators who can pour into even more students across East Texas.

But goodness… these families become family to me.

This precious girl has been such a joy to know, support, encourage, and advocate for. Watching her growth has meant so much to me, and receiving messages like this reminds me why POP Tutoring exists in the first place.

The beautiful thing is that while I may not personally be her tutor moving forward, she is being placed with an absolutely brilliant educator who will bend over backwards to make sure she receives the very best support possible. That matters deeply to me. Every student placement at POP Tutoring is intentional because relationships matter just as much as academics.

And one thing I can promise? Even when I’m not the one at the table tutoring anymore, I will still continue cheering for, advocating for, and loving these students and families fiercely. Always. 💜

I have known Jennifer for a couple of decades, and I cannot express how grateful and excited I am to have her on the POP Tutoring team. She is a gem: wise, encouraging, compassionate, and incredibly gifted at helping students feel both capable and seen.

What makes her especially rare is that she brings expertise in BOTH dyslexia intervention and math instruction. That combination is so hard to find. She has specialized dyslexia training through Shelton SEE and is CALP certified, but beyond the credentials, she has a gift for helping students understand concepts and build confidence along the way.

Jennifer is the kind of educator who notices strengths, celebrates growth, and patiently walks alongside students who may have started to doubt themselves. Families are going to absolutely love her. 💜
