🏁 LET’S SUPPORT RACEWAY MEMBER Mark Wood🏁 and his car RUBY

Our very own Raceway member, Mark Wood, is currently competing in a 3-Show Build-Off Series. This competition follows the progress of project vehicles throughout the year, with judging and People’s Choice voting at each event.

💥 GRAND PRIZE:
A custom-built 350 engine will be awarded to the overall winner!

🚗 THE PROJECT: 1986 Chevrolet El Camino

Mark rescued this El Camino from beneath a pecan tree after what he calls a “5-year dirt nap.” Since then, he has poured countless hours of hard work, dedication, and passion into bringing it back to life.

🔧 COMPLETED SO FAR:

✅ Replaced the tired 305 engine and 200R4 transmission with a fresh L46 350 and TH350 transmission

✅ 3.08 rear gears

✅ New shocks and springs

✅ Completely new brake system

✅ Removed years of dirt, pecan shells, and rodent damage

✅ New speakers and dash mat

✅ New radiator

✅ New carburetor

✅ New water pump

✅ New fuel pump

✅ New fuel sending unit and fuel lines

✅ New windshield

✅ New wheels and tires

🌩️ SETBACK & COMEBACK

In late March, Mark’s El Camino was caught in a severe hailstorm and suffered major damage.

Thankfully, it was brought it back to life by:

✔ Taking the vehicle down to bare metal

✔ Repairing all hail damage

✔ Installing a brand-new hood

✔ Applying 3 coats of Torch Red paint

✔ Applying 3 coats of clear coat

🔨 UPCOMING PHASES

• New carpet

• New seats

• New door panels

• New window seals

• Window tint

• Reinstallation of the factory A/C system

📅 BUILD-OFF TIMELINE

Mark initially placed 2nd overall. However, after the People’s Choice votes were added, he moved to 4th place overall.

📍 Canton Trades Day Auto Swap Meet & Car Show

This is the second event in the three-part Build-Off Series.

The final standings will determine who takes home the custom-built 350 engine.
