The Neville Public Museum in Green Bay, WI has announced that after several decades of displaying Lester Bentley's tryptic it is being taken down.
The post office, completed in 1941, was funded with Public Works Administration monies. Newspaper articles reported it would be complete as of Oct. 2nd and dedication occurred on that day.
Bentley won the competitive commission funded through the Works Progress Administration. The mural was hung in the summer of 1942. The Colonial Revival style building functioned as a post office through 1996 when the murals were given to the local historical society who passed them on to the Neville Museum in Green Bay.
