October 26, 2020 - 6:47am PDT. The broke out in Silverado Canyon in central Orange County, California. 13,390 acres were burned. Absolute containment was announced nearly two weeks later on November 7th.

In 2020 alone, reported 4.3 million acres of California burned in its nearly 10,000 of that year (that's more than 4% of the entire state's landmass).

Due to other events of 2020-21 (*ahem* COVID), we were unable to interview anyone on this topic in-person, but we did release our very first (and, yes, so far only) : an interview with Eastern Sierra author, and California native .atleework .
