Hi, I’m Cory, owner of Cory’s Computer Repair here in Turlock. I’ve been doing this for over 20 years and keep things honest, simple, and upfront.

In 2013, I had enough of hearing stories about people getting taken advantage of and ripped off. That's when I decided to open Cory's Computer Repair, a no-nonsense place where honesty, transparency, and making a genuine first impression with a firm handshake to customers are my top priorities. I wanted customers to step in, look me in the eyes, and feel confident they'd get quality work at a fair price. At Cory's Computer Repair, it's not about fancy slogans—it's about delivering on the basics: honesty, transparency, integrity, and earning your trust through referrals & quality work.
The original Samsung SSD had completely failed and wasn’t communicating with the system at all. While replacing it, I also found the drive connected through an aging front hot-swap system, so I bypassed that hardware and connected the replacement 500GB SSD directly to the motherboard.
While I had it apart, I noticed the two front intake fans were mounted to empty drive cages that weren’t even being used. I removed the unnecessary cages, mounted both fans directly to the front of the case, and discovered the case fans were only running around 500 RPM. After correcting the fan profiles, they’re now running around 1,200 RPM with significantly better airflow.
I also updated the Gigabyte motherboard BIOS from F5 to F10, performed a clean Windows 11 installation, installed the required drivers and updates, activated Windows, and fully tested the system.
One failed SSD brought it in. A whole list of improvements went home with it.

🎮 This is why properly setting up a gaming PC matters.
This custom gaming PC came into the shop and while going through the system, I found several issues with the CPU cooling setup.
The AIO cooler’s pump and radiator fan connections were hooked up incorrectly. When I removed the CPU cooler to replace the thermal paste, I was also surprised to find very little thermal paste on the processor, and what was there had dried out.
I cleaned the CPU and cooler, applied fresh Arctic MX-4 thermal paste, and corrected the AIO connections.
But there was one more problem…
The AIO pump had never been properly configured in the BIOS. It was running at only around 1,584 RPM. After correcting the BIOS configuration and setting the pump to full speed, it was running properly at approximately 2,800 RPM.
A gaming PC can turn on, run, and even play games while still not being set up correctly. Small installation and configuration mistakes like these can make a big difference in how effectively the CPU is being cooled.
Proper connections. Fresh thermal paste. Proper pump speed. Proper cooling. 🖥️🔧
