I tend to have a wildcard song on tap when going in to make a record. It keeps things fresh and everybody in the room listening. Unlike a vast majority of the record, “Old Dogs” hadn’t been tested live at all and I only sent the demo to the band shortly before going into record. They maybe had a day, at most two, to sit with it?
I think it turned out really well and is definitely my sleeper pick for best song on the record! Check it out, and the rest of my second LP Harder than Dreaming, wherever you stream your tunes!

I was in a heavy George Jones season when writing some of songs that cumulatively would become my latest LP, Harder than Dreaming. I couldn’t help myself. It rears its head here.
Nobody can sing it like the GOAT, but sometimes when you shoot for the stars and all that. The recorded version of this is pretty sick, too. Some of my personal favorite studio moments are found on there, gospel choir and all!

Last night at was special. If I could bottle up the feeling of a room in quiet rapture of song like that, I’d take a nip or two every day until I die. Thank you to the preeminent Vibe King of Tulsa Mr. .bachmann for putting everything together and writing such cool songs, and to & for joining whilst being two of the baddest men I’ve encountered. Legends, every one of them. Love y’all.
I got the idea for “I Talk Too Much” after listening to an interview with Tanya Tucker where she said exactly what the first line spells out verbatim. It made me think of adulthood unfolds, and how it’s often much more populated with instances of what you’re lacking than discovering what you’re here for. Especially when you’re looking for answers. Life can be hard that way sometimes.
My pal co-wrote this one with me, all the way back in 2020 or so, and it appeared on my first EP only to really find its footing sonically after I moved to Tulsa and ultimately it fit like a glove alongside the other songs on Harder than Dreaming.

One whole week of Harder than Dreaming! Have ya listened yet? Is the whole thing queued up for your next big road trip? Have you told your hip friend who loves alt. country who you can’t wait to show a new artist too?
If you have been so gracious as to spend any time at all with my newest record… do you have a favorite song yet? Personally, I’ve been leaning heavy on a track co-written with my good buddy called “Long Desert Highway” 🏜️

Wanted to share some of my very favorite shots so beautifully captured during the making of Harder than Dreaming. There are few places as vibe-y and inspiring as what Jason has created in Little Rock and it was an honor chase down these songs alongside and all of whom are as kind as they are talented, and tasteful to boot.
Those 4 days flew by, but man, it sure was a blast. Definitely one of my favorite musical memories. Plus I had the best fried chicken I’ve ever tasted. God bless Gus’s.

Making records is fun. I figure if I keep making good ones, if I keep stacking them up, things are bound to happen. I got a new one coming out tomorrow. It’s called Harder than Dreaming and I think it’s special. I hope y’all listen and tell a friend. Link is in my bio.

Looking cooler than I am at the world famous last weekend. Still reeling from how much damn fun we had!

Four years ago with my best little buddy ❤️
Been bustin’ this one out at live shows of late… and it’s real fun to sing.
For some reason I haven’t played “Builidng on Quicksand’ live much, if ever, even when the record it’s on came out. Seems like a shame!
