Here we are, 2912 days later. 69888 hours since its inception.
Yep, its been 8 years of Observations and Reflections since I set out with a few brushes and a little paint. The Anniversary of my journey is today.
It started out as a simple plan to take some time for myself and look into a few things I had on my mind. To seek answers where blank Canvases sat unoccupied and void of reason. As an Artist, I would wield a Paintbrush as my guide, and let the road unravel before me as I simply took notes and gathered data.
The Sketchbooks began to fill rapidly. They filled with scrawls of beautiful moments by complete strangers. Lines flowing in a mesmerizing pattern of kindness and joy drawn by new found friends. Pages filling as the miles passed of Compassion, Creations and Hope by others as we passed the mile markers. Those moments were recorded as well as the lesser favored ones. The ones where Greed smudged the lines. Where Avarice attempted to erase the reality and distortion took its place. Where blackened hearts made choices based on selfish gain over uniting possibilities. My pencil and I took no sides, we just jotted down what was modeled before us. The Good the Bad and the Ugly. The path soon became cluttered with pages mixed of True Beauty and Vile Conflicts. Shuffled by both complete strangers and loved family members. My Sketchbooks grew heavy.
So now what to do with these images? Do they get tucked unto a shelf and gather dust? Hidden away in frames soon forgotten? Relegated to recesses of no remembrance?
No....they wont. They will serve their intended purposes and the Paint will cover the Canvas. That was the deal. To gather content and let the Brushes decide. That was/is/has always been the goal. Now the Work will begin and the sketches will become the references. This is a task I'm both looking forward to as well as dreading. But this is as Art is intended. To Comfort the Disturbed, and Disturb the Comforted. That is the next part of my journey.
